This week saw many virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (VR/AR/MR) firms introduce new enterprise-grade solutions and software tools that greatly improves upon user-experiences for various immersive platforms.

Additionally, the VR/AR/MR and metaverse industry saw an increase in interest thanks to a pair a ground-breaking real-estate investments made on the Metaverse.

Glue Collaboration Introduces Beneficial Immersive Features

Finish remote collaboration platform Glue announced a series of new features that improved the popular virtual reality (VR) meeting platform.

Glue’s latest version introduced a number of new tools including customisable note taking, 3D object handling, 1080p resolution, decreased background noise, and the ability to upload and download multiple files simultaneously via ‘Glue Web.’

Additionally, the Helsinki-based firm has debuted Sky Hall, a VR environment tailor-made for customer-facing engagements.

All the new features, are currently available for all Glue members no matter their chosen subscription method.

Metaverse Real-Estate Records Broken

Last week, two historic digital real-estate transactions took place on Decentraland and Axie, a pair of open-source Metaverse platforms that promote a digital free market economy by incorporating cryptocurrencies.

Investors bought a plot of virtual land on Axie Infinity for 550 Ether, making the deal worth roughly $2.3 million USD at the date of the transaction.

The same week, saw virtual real-estate records broken when the Metaverse Group purchased a property on Decentraland for 618,000 mana, approximately $2.43 million. The purchase enables the Metaverse Group to hold virtual fashion events and showcases.

INMO Secures Funding for Consumer-Grade Smartgalsses

Shenzhen-based smart glasses firm INMO recently closed a series A funding round led by Matrix Partners, supported by Unity Ventures, Junsan Capital, and pre-existing shareholders.

The secured capital allows the firm to deploy ‘INMO Air’ smartgalsses to its Indiegogo backers, as well as enhancing the firm’s global brand awareness.

The firm estimates that it’ll release the INMO Air in December of this year and will price units at roughly £300 but, no updates from IMNO confirm a solid release date.

HTC VIVE Updates Security and Privacy Policy

Taiwanese tech giant HTC VIVE achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification last week that enables its partnered enterprises to protect employee data and personally identifiable information (PII).

The ISO granted HTC VIVE ISO27001 and ISO27701 certifications after, the headset manufacturer underwent a evaluation of its approach to protecting employee and client information.

In addition, the firm is now operating under European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines.

Meta Unveils XLS-R Speech Processing Tool

The rebranded Meta is continuing to explore the full potential of the Metaverse with new hardware such as haptics. Although, last week the Menlo-Park firm introduced ‘XLS-R‘ a self-supervised tool which decodes and processes roughly up to 128 languages.

The new hardware is a key benchmark for multilingual speech processing, Meta notes that the tech shows “markedly strong improvements” when encoding non-English languages.

Additionally, the platform uses CommonVoice, BABEL, VoxPopuli, CoVoST-2, and VoxLingua107 to seamlessly process multiple languages.

XYZ Reality Launches ‘Atom’ AR Headset

XYZ Reality announced ‘Atom‘ an augmented AR headset for use in for construction environments.

The hardware uses HoloSite and powerful AR lens to display highly overlay accurate 3D renders on top of the real world and show workers accurate building information modelling (BIM) visualisations.

Atom has the power to transform “the way the construction industry operates” says David Mitchell, XYZ Reality Founder and Chief Executive.
