Rezzil, a market-leading developer of virtual reality (VR) training, recently announced a free expansion pack for its popular fitness training app PLAYER 22.

The app features new immersive content such as drills, environments, and levels to break new ground by introducing US Football VR training to the PLAYER 22 platform.

The update to PLAYER 22 adds a series of drills to train quarterbacks trying to improve upon their distance perception, situational awareness, and decision making.

The sports training solution also improves cognitive skills by honing trainee anticipation and timing.

Player 22 cited research in a press release showing “three 15-minute sessions of FIELD GENERAL a week can improve performance in all of these areas.”

Christian Barsanti, US Operations Director for Rezzil, said PLAYER 22 expanded its solution with an “incredible roster of high calibre coaches and players” to provide a bespoke solution for players.

She continued, stating,

“We hope we’re opening the door to a whole world of undiscovered talent whilst giving those at the top the chance to perfect their craft”

PLAYER 22 is currently available for Oculus Quest headsets as Facebook aim to expand its fitness and productivity VR use cases.

New Realities in Sports Training

PLAYER 22 is one of many VR fitness solutions available on the Oculus Quest storefront.

The wireless Quest 2 headset and optimal hardware solution provides users with an increased freedom of movement, but aside from consumer-grade fitness applications, the headset has also found a home in professional sports training.

The National Hockey League (NHL) recently adopted Oculus headsets in a partnership with software developers Sense Arena to provide NHL goalies with a realistic and immersive training experience using custom controllers with integrated haptics.

The news comes as Unity Technologies is also developed a volumetric capture solution to improve sports viewing experiences and create VR replays of ultimate fighting champions (UFC) contests.

Furthermore, broadcasters such as Verizon have incorporated augmented reality (AR) and VR technologies to boost viewer engagement with 5G event coverage similarly to this year’s Tokyo Olympic Games, who integrated AR in their sportscasts in a major partnership with Microsoft.
