Holoconnects has launched its ‘Hologrid’ touchscreen modular hologram wall that projects 4K high-resolution 3D images and videos.

The Hologrid adds to Holoconnects’ portfolio, which also includes the Holobox and Holobox Mini hologram displays, ‘transforming’ communication and creating ‘unparalleled’ engagement through its interactive and immersive experiences.

Like these other products by the 3D holographic solutions provider, Hologrid can be used to display 3D holograms of people, products, and logos across healthcare, hospitality, retail, education, communications, and events.

Holoconnects’ Co-founder and CEO André Smith, commented on the potential impact that the Hologrid can for advertisers and individual user experiences: “The success of Hologrid demonstrates how interactive, immersive hologram technology can captivate and delight observers in environments where many ads and brand campaigns compete for eyeballs.

“The Hologrid changes how advertisers can engage and impress audiences with a large-scale display in public spaces as well as at trade shows and events.”

Introducing Hologrid

Hologrid can be connected to Holoboxes to form an interactive and modular holographic experience. The two-centimetre rim or ‘bezel’ of these Holoboxes makes the hologram wall even more seamless, according to Holoconnect.

Not only does the Hologrid display engaging content to passers-by, it can also be interacted with due to its touchscreen-enabled screens.

Take one of its current deployments in the Gare du Nord train station in Paris. As the result of a partnership with Mediagares, the 23-foot Hologrid is being used to display a Visit Britain advertising campaign to travellers and commuters at the world-famous transport hub.

The Hologrid allows people to explore the United Kingdom, learn about British customs, and plan their trips to the UK with the assistance of virtual guides ahead of the 33rd summer Olympics.

The Hologrid has also been used for a BMW advertising campaign at train stations in Belgium and brand campaign for Google at CES 2024 and MWC Barcelona 2024 that demonstrated the 3D mascot ‘The Bot’ in avatar form.

Technical specifications of the Holobox include an LCD screen and display area, 81” by 30” dimensions, an ‘easy to transport’ weight of 200 kg, 4K resolution, an advanced touch system, anti-glare glass, built-in hifi speakers, extra ports, and between 0.5Wh and 800Wh of power consumption.

Jules Hamers, Event Production Manager at Mediagares, shared her assessment of Hologrid: “The Hologrid by Holoconnects exceeded our expectations.

“We were delighted to see how the 4K high-resolution content moved seamlessly across multiple panels and how successfully it attracted attention from busy Gare du Nord station visitors.

“We look forward to working with Holoconnects on future advertising and brand campaign collaborations.”

In June this year, Holoconnects made headlines for integrating its hologram technology at Crescent Regional Hospital in Lancaster, Texas. It was the first time that holograms had been used by a U.S. hospital to ‘teleport’ doctors to remote locations, Holoconnects asserts.

Founded in 2020, Holoconnects is a privately owned company based in The Netherlands.

XR Today previously explored whether holograms are the future of enterprise, connecting people with spatially-designed virtual objects to add depth, realism, and emotional impact to face-to-face communications.
