Varjo Technologies announced on Monday its Teleport solution for mixed reality (MR) devices has been released for download to enterprise customers.

The Finnish tech firm’s latest Metaverse solution allows users and teams to join immersive virtual experiences as avatars, build and edit 3D models, share files, and collaborate seamlessly on projects.

Using the front-facing cameras on the Varjo XR-3 head-mounted display (HMD), Teleport streams real-world environments through images collected on the device to share and enter with colleagues.

Teams can interact in the same shared space, allowing users to create an infinite number of immersive environments on the platform via the company’s real-time 3D (RT3D) Reality Cloud Service.

Helsinki’s leading producer of MR devices recently unveiled the soution along with its Aero professional headset at an event in October, which both have been opened to businesses and individuals for purchase.

According to Jussi Makinen, Varjo’s Chief Brand Officer, and Urho Konttori, Varjo’s Founder and Chief Technology Officer, the company would issue further consumer support and updates after improvements to Teleport’s software.

Jonas Lund, Digitalisation and Building Information Modelling (BIM) Manager for AF Gruppen, spoke on his experiences with Varjo Teleport while restoring Inkognito Park, a major 19th-century landmark in Oslo, stating,

“We went through two entire floors at Incognito Park, and in each room we looked at the placement of electrical equipment, and it took us about 2 hours. If we would have done the same thing just spinning the model on a 2D screen, it would have taken at least twice as long. So, you get much more utility out of the models within VR, and at least for us, it has made everyday work-life very efficient”

The firm, one of Norway’s largest civil engineering and construction companies, used the solution to save on costs, time, and boost efficiency for the restoration project by rendering 3D models of the building and exploring them at a 1:1 or miniature scale.

The news comes after the enterprise raised roughly $100 million USD from investors, including capital from Swedish-Chinese automaker Volvo, to fund the new Metaverse solution.
