This week, spatial content creation platform provider STYLY announced the release of a new location alignment feature which optimizes content distribution and pre-event testing for AR/MR/spatial applications.
The new STYLY Studio feature is free for users to test; however, to get full access to the location alignment feature, users must pay for pro access, namely for commercial use.
The feature initially debuted on Immersal, a premium service for location-based XR content distribution on mobile devices. It supports GPS location and orientation positioning for XR content, such as displaying immersive content—such as marketing material—across indoor and outdoor spaces. Notably, the location alignment feature negates using QR codes, creating more seamless AR/VR content access.
With the toolkit’s transition to STYLY, its location-based tools will equally transfer, with added optimization from the STYLY team, such as a new UI for its template selection page.
STYLY appears to want to improve the usability of the integrated Immersal tool for business. To this end, STYLY is also making location makers available for public use, and an upcoming revised pricing scheme will match.
STYLY on Apple Vision Pro
STYLY launched the STYLY Spatial Computing Lab earlier this year, introducing the platform on the Apple Vision Pro. The STYLY suite is a standard tool for creating immersive marketing campaigns and is widely used in Japan and the US.
STYLY is collaborating with key partners, including KDDI Corporation, “WIRED” Japan, and J. Front Retailing, to enhance the platform’s presence on Vision Pro. Ryohei Watanabe, the Executive Officer/CMO/Director of STYLY Spatial Computing Lab and STYLY, said at the time:
With the launch of the Apple Vision Pro in February 2024, we feel that the era of spatial computing, where space becomes wearable, is finally upon us. Our platform development and creator cultivation have lowered the barriers to content delivery, facilitating connections between businesses, creators, and end-users. Now, the focus shifts to creating use cases. We look forward to exploring various contents that envision a next-generation lifestyle with our partners, setting new standards for the future.
STYLY is collaborating with its partners to advance research and development for new and innovative use cases for the platform and Vision Pro. For instance, STYLY is teaming up with WIRED to analyze business and tech trends to support new use cases.
Furthermore, STYLY is working with KDDI to utilize its expertise in XR content and metaverse/Web3 services technology. By partnering with Front Retailing, the STYLY team can gain deeper insights into crucial customer experience considerations through tangible assets, including user touch points.
