Magic Leap has announced on Tuesday the release window for its sophomore augmented reality (AR) headset. The firm is making the Magic Leap 2 product commercially available on September 30 this year.

Hardware distributor Insight is handling the release of the Magic Leap 2 and in September, the device will drop globally in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. Magic Leap will also debut the device in Japan and Singapore later this year.

The CTO of Magic Leap, Julie Larson-Green, announced the release window during this week’s Fortune Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen, Colorado.

The Plantation, Florida-based firm fuelled interest in its long-awaited follow-up device with leaks and teasers to hold fans over, where Julie Larson-Green explained at the event that “the world seems a little more ready” for its advanced AR device.

Bespoke AR for Consumers, Enterprises, and Developers

Magic Leap is preparing three editions of its follow-up AR product to suit a range of verticals and companies of various sizes.

The firm is pricing the base Magic Leap 2 model at $3,299, which suits professionals and developers and includes features ready for commercial deployment and production environments.

Magic Leap 2 contains a trove of new features such as a 70-degree field of view (FoV), dynamic dimming, 2.5M pixels per eye resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 4K optional video output, a variable 30FPS/60FPS, and 256GB of storage.

Additionally, the headset features a range of robust sensors and trackers to ensure responsive and accurate AR overlays. It also incorporates external cameras to manage the device’s FoV, depth, RGB, and eye-tracking capabilities.

The device also includes internal 3-axis accelerometers, gyroscopes, 3-axis magnetometers, altimeters, and external ambient light sensors.

The Magic Leap 2 Developer Pro model comes at $4,099 and includes all the above features. The Pro model provides developer tools, sample projects, enterprise-grade features, and a monthly early access programme for software testing.

Magic Leap designed its developer-grade model for internal testing and development purposes, with no permissions for use in full commercial deployment or production environments.

Lastly, Magic Leap is debuting an Enterprise edition model at $4,999, with an extended 2-year warranty.

The flexible enterprise-level device supports large-scale IT deployments with built-in, unified endpoint management (UEM) and mobile device management (MDM) solutions to assist onboarding processes.

It also comes with full commercial deployment and production environment permissions as well as includes quarterly software releases to help businesses get the most out of the enterprise product.
