Augmented reality (AR) headset manufacturer Magic Leap announced on Wednesday a strategic partnership with Globant to accelerate enterprise adoption of AR technology at a grander scale.

Globant provides businesses with guidelines to reinvent workplace procedures with innovative solutions, including extended reality (XR) technology. Currently, many firms are adopting XR-based digital transformation plans to prepare frontline employees for the industrial Metaverse and the future of work.

Boosting Enterprise AR Adoption Rates

Magic Leap’s spatial computing solution and Globant’s unique brand of rich innovation for enterprise customers will introduce AR solutions to modern businesses and increases worldwide adoption rates.

Peggy Johnson, the CEO of Magic Leap, said that spatial computing is the “future of business and work,” adding,

“There is still not enough industry investment to fully realize the technology’s transformative potential. We’re working to solve this problem by strategically cultivating a cohesive and agile innovation ecosystem with Globant to bring our best-in-class AR technology into the mainstream”

Johnson also explained that mass AR adoption across businesses relied on “seamless integration between hardware and software,” adding the shared goal of the partnership was to “deliver greater value for enterprise customers.”

The partnership gives Globant’s software development team access to the upcoming Magic Leap 2 headset, enabling the partners to co-develop enterprise AR software solutions ahead of the device’s launch. Magic Leap also offers an early access program to entice more enterprise partners to join its development roadmap.

When is the Magic Leap 2 Coming?

Currently, Magic Leap is preparing to launch its highly-anticipated sophomore AR headset, and at the annual World Economic Forum (WEF 2022) meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the firm hosted a booth allowing attendees to try out the Magic Leap 2 headset.

Furthermore, during a WEF 2022 keynote discussing Metverse development for children, Johnson said that the Metaverse was in its foundational stage, “but innovation is certainly progressing towards a digital future.”

Ahead of its WEF debut, Magic Leap teased fans with details regarding the upcoming headset.

In March, Peter H Diamandis, the Founder and Executive Chairman of XPRIZE, tweeted an image of the Magic Leap 2 that revealed the headset’s controller.

During the February SPIE Photonics West 2022 conference, VP of Optical Engineering for Magic Leap, Kevin Curtis, revealed the headset’s core specs, including 18 built-in tracking devices, a dynamic eyebox, and solutions for poor lighting conditions.

In a February CBNC interview, Johnson said the Magic Leap 2 would release in 2022, although Magic Leap has not confirmed the precise release date. Additionally, the Plantation, Florida-based firm is having a send-off sale for the original Magic Leap headset, dropping the price from $2,300 to $550.
