Cisco Webex has recently introduced spatial meetings, integrating XR features into its leading video conferencing platform for more immersive meeting experiences while also deepening Apple Vision Pro support.
Webex now allows users to transform any space equipped with a Cisco Room Bar Pro into an immersive studio. A simple software upgrade will enable teams to deliver spatial video to Webex for Apple Vision Pro, a workplace-ready immersive headset.
With a Cisco Room Bar Pro device and an Apple Vision Pro, users can conduct product demonstrations, remote training sessions, and educational activities with a video that offers enhanced depth and dimension.
Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, said that “with AI baked into every part of Cisco’s product portfolio, we’re helping organisations future-proof their workspaces with solutions ready for the next generation of how and where people work.”
“We’re providing our customers with intelligent, adaptable, and easy-to-manage technology that enhances experiences for their employees and customers,” Patel also added.
Cisco made this announcement during last week’s WebexOne event. The firm has introduced XR features and ambitions at this yearly event, in year’s past.
Moreover, alongside the Cisco XR announcements, the form also brought to light a range of new AI products designed to enhance the employee experience. Other notable announcements included the Cisco Ceiling Microphone Pro, new integrations with enterprise applications like Salesforce and ServiceNow, and AI-powered workspace management features.
Cisco’s History with XR
Cisco’s continued support of Vision Pro is not the first time the firm has explored XR communication solutions. In 2022, Vection Technologies launched a Metaverse-embedded application within Webex’s suite for enterprise collaboration. This “3D Frame” service enabled business meetings to take place in an immersive VR environment.
Webex developed the 3D Frame system as a low-code solution that allows users to create customized VR collaboration spaces seamlessly. A user of the 3D Frame can quickly transform a 2D Webex session into a VR meeting room without exiting the application. During a 3D Frame Metaverse meeting, participants can share and stream a variety of file types, including photos, videos, PDFs, and real-time 3D models.
Before this, in 2021, Cisco introduced the Webex Hologram Hybrid. At the time, the company claimed it was the only real-time meeting solution that utilized augmented reality head-mounted displays to integrate its meetings platform with real-time 3D holographic content.
As 2025 rolls along and XR services and hardware regain interest across various professional sectors, trusted service providers like Cisco are getting ahead early to be the go-to immersive workplace experts.
