Delta Reality Opens NFT Sale of MoDaL Metaverse Platform
Extended reality (XR) firm Delta Reality announced last week it had listed its Museum of Digital Life (MoDaL) Metaverse platform as a non-fungible token (NFT) worth 8.88 Ethreum, or over $31,500 USD.
The MoDaL digital gallery is a Metaverse where users can share immersive digital artworks and exhibitions, and comes amid competition from Psychic Lab’s STYLY and other key platforms.
Windows 11 Mixed Reality Users Report Install Errors
A Windows Report last week found Microsoft Windows 11 users could not install the tech giant’s mixed reality (MR) app on devices, which allows XR-based experiences on the HoloLens 2 and Mesh platforms.
Microsoft is currently launching a phased rollout of the Windows 11 operating system (OS) up to mid-2022, but users with the OS posted the complaints on social media, the report stated.
Epic Games Debuts Unreal Engine’s ‘Project Anywhere’
Epic Games, a major US firm for developing real-time 3D content, announced a major partnership with several tech giants and firms to build a rising geospatial mapping and digital twins platform.
Built on the Unreal Engine, the ‘Project Anywhere’ platform aims to boost interactive content and immersive experiences with efforts from companies such as Nvidia, Microsoft, and Cesium.
Canon Launches Dual Fisheye Lens For VR Video
Canon’s USA division revealed last week it had released its RF5.2mm F2.8 L Dual Fisheye camera lens capable of producing 180-degree stereoscopic 3D images and video for VR devices.
The world’s first digital swappable dual fisheye lens works on Canon’s EOS R5 camera stock and requires headsets such as the Oculus Quest 2 to view immersive content produced on the camera.
Moth+Flame, National Urban League Partner for VR Diversity Trainer
Moth+Flame, a New York-based VR firm, partnered with the National Urban League to produce a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) workforce trainer for onboarding and continued development.
The new programme saw the two groups work on a ‘Hiring Equity’ trainer to reduce cultural and ethnical bias in human resource processes, and follows a trainer developed for the US Air Force to tackle sexual assault incidences in the military.
The news comes after Bank of America built a similar trainer the same week, which aimed at educating employees on best practices, cultural sensitivity, and other situations across its 4,300 global branches.
