ShapesXR, a VR design and collaboration platform, has raised an $8.6 million Seed Round with HTC Vive among the investors.

Founded in 2021, ShapesXR’s mission is to make 3D content creation and spatial design accessible to non-technical users, enabling them to easily craft immersive experiences such as VR and AR games, training simulations, and real-world design projects.

Organizations like Logitech, ByteDance, Qualcomm and Meta are using the platform for 3D content creation and collaboration, ShapesXR claimed, along with XR users in the indie gaming and VR studios.

Inga Petryaevskaya, CEO and Founder at ShapesXR, said: “VR has such huge potential to transform how we all collaborate on projects and design new products, however, one of the main barriers to entry is the level of technical skill required to get started.

“ShapesXR has been built to remove these hurdles; it’s as easy to learn as PowerPoint. This truly democratizes 3D content creation and enables anyone to become a VR, AR and mixed reality storyteller.

“With this funding we can expand ShapesXR onto new platforms, support more companies and make 3D content creation, collaboration and storytelling mainstream.”

ShapesXR is a platform that allows users to create and share immersive 3D experiences using virtual reality and augmented reality. Users can design their own scenes, animations, interactions, and games using a variety of tools and assets.

It also enables users to collaborate with others in real time, explore other users’ creations, and publish their work to the web or mobile devices. ShapesXR aims to make 3D creation accessible and fun for everyone, regardless of their skill level or background.

ShapesXR has garnered attention from industry leaders and innovators. Mark Zuckerberg recently pointed to ShapesXR as an example of VR’s potential for creativity and collaboration in a video on the firm’s YouTube channel.

It also claims to have more than 350,000 downloads on the Meta Quest app store, with more than 300,000 projects created on its platform.

ShapesXR plans to utilize a portion of the funding to expand its compatibility to new devices, including Apple Vision Pro, Pico, and Magic Leap.

The funding round was led Triptyq VC, Boost VC, Hartmann Capital, and Geek Ventures, with contributions from The WXR Fund, StratMinds VC, Ludus Ventures, The Venture Reality Fund, HTC Vive, Leta Capital, and Remote First Capital.

Bertrand Nepveu, CEO & Founder of Vrvana, and now Managing Partner of Triptyq Capital, said: “I firmly believe ShapesXR is uniquely positioned to disrupt the XR landscape and revolutionize the way people work, create, and collaborate.

“With its exceptional leadership team, cutting-edge technology, and unwavering commitment to user-centric design, Inga and her team have all the ingredients for success.

“We are glad to be part of this journey and on a personal note, as an avid believer of immersive technology, I look forward to witnessing the transformative impact the platform will have on industries worldwide.”

ShapesXR has a tight-knit relationship with Meta. At last year’s Meta Connect event, it released its mixed reality toolkit for the high-end Meta Quest Pro headset.

Michael Sackler, Managing Partner at Supernode Global, said: “ShapesXR is leading the way in shaping the future of immersive collaboration and spatial design. As we anticipate the widespread adoption of XR applications and 3D content, the need for XR-native UI/UX tools becomes clearer each day.

“With its user-centric approach and exceptional leadership, ShapesXR is poised to meet this demand and become the industry standard in this space. This investment underscores our belief that ShapesXR will prove transformative for developers looking to create the most compelling XR content possible.”
