vSpatial was founded in 2016 with an exciting value proposition – what if you could extend your workspace into as many screens as you need, without any limits? vSpatial helps you stay predictive through a virtually infinite work environment in VR, equipped with communication channels and collaboration tools.

“vSpatial – the company – is a group of telecommunications, networking, cloud, and of course VR and AR experts with about 150 years of collective experience in those different areas. We are passionate about the future of work,” explains John Sallaway, the CEO and co-founder of the company.

Recently, in January of 2021, vSpatial got another boost as Mike Sharpe, Co-Founder of Jive Communications that is now part of LogMeIn, joined its board of directors. Let us review the platform’s capabilities in more detail.

What are the Key Features of vSpatial?

vSpatial is a VR workspace app that works with most popular headsets like Oculus, Vive, Index, Windows Mixed Reality, etc. You can recreate your workstation in VR and continue with productivity tasks either in collaboration with others or solo.

Unlimited screen space

You can recreate each application window and open screen as a separate monitor on vSpatial. There is no limit on the number of screens you can create, and you can connect with a remote desktop as well. This means that no matter where you are, you will have access to an infinite, multi-screen productivity space in VR, thanks to vSpatial.

In-world PC access

You can continue working as you would on a physical workstation inside of vSpatial. This seamless VR/PC integration lets you take calls, edit documents, type, use different software, conduct research, play videos, and so on in virtual reality. There is an integrated media player that you can use to open locally stored video files as well.

Multi-user office

vSpatial supports multi-user office environments to simulate in-presence working even when you are operating a distributed team. To achieve this, vSpatial recreates participant images as easily identifiable avatars, but without sacrificing any screen space in terms of content access. This means that you can conduct highly productive meetings, simulating multiple PC screens even as you interact with a meeting participant’s avatar. Participants get up to four virtual screens, offering additional capabilities even if they aren’t the meeting host.

Compatibility and support

In addition to the VR workspace for head-mounted devices, there are desktop clients to provide an “almost” immersive experience on macOS and Windows PC. You can also download a remote desktop utility that lets you access a remote Windows desktop or virtual machine (connected to the same LAN) – the company has planned WAN support and multiple desktops in a future release.

What are the Benefits of Using vSpatial?

The biggest benefit of vSpatial is its ability to extend your workstation into unlimited screens, helping to visualise information better, multi-task, and spot correlations that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Rich in-world capabilities let you access all the usual PC features in a VR environment.

How Much Will It Cost?

A basic version of vSpatial is available for free, with in-app purchases for additional features starting $4.99. You could also contact the company for team and enterprise editions.
