New HTC headsets Vive Pro 2 and the Vive Focus 3 were announced at Vivecon 2021. Bringing next generation experiences for consumers, but more importantly; a defined interest in businesses and professionals.
Boasting ground breaking specifications that aim to compete with other big players in the headset market. The announcement at Vivecon shows that there is an aim by Vive, to make a mark in business integration first and foremost.
The Vive Pro 2 and Focus 3 offer two different solutions. Various slight aspects are different between to the two headsets. With the most notable being that the Focus 3 does not require a computer connection. Otherwise they are relatively similar.
Vive Pro 2:
The original Vive Pro was released in 2018, in the following years Vive have made leaps and bounds with their hardware.
Boasting an industry leading 5K (2448 × 2448 pixels per eye) display which beats the previous front runner: HP Reverb G2, with this headset having 2160 x 2160 pixels per eye.
Dwarfing their previous Pro 1 model which only had 1400×1600 pixels per eye. But it must be noted that the Pro 1 was also a technological benchmark at release. What this shows is Vive’s dedication and skills at staying ahead of the pack.
With an enormous 120 degree field of view and a super smooth 120Hz refresh rate, the visualisations will be incredibly clear. The visual fidelity presented will bring more new eyes than ever before to the incredible hardware.
Vive Focus 3:
As stated, the main selling point of the Vive Focus 3 is that the headset is stand alone and doesn’t require a PC connection.
The main difference between the Vive Focus 3 and its obvious wireless headset competitor, Facebook’s Oculus Quest 2, is the specifications offered by Vive. The Focus 3 shares all the same technological highlights and benchmarks as the Pro 2. But within a completely wireless experience. As well as being pushed at a much higher price.
The Price for Your Business:
The Pro 2 is priced between £1,299 – £659. The full Vive Pro 2, with base station and controllers will increase the price point.
The Focus 3 comes in at £1,060. A large jump when compared to the Oculus Quest 2 with is price point at £300.
With these prices, comes unmatched technical specifications and during the announcement at Vivecon 2021. A point was made to show Vive’s dedication to business integration.
Vive are setting a precedent with the Pro 2 and Focus 3. Building and offering an ecosystem of independent software vendors. Working with companies like Immersive factory to create safe training for public sectors. With software of this VR training being shown off during the event.
