This week, Virtualware announced VIROO version 2.6, a fresh update for the firm’s enterprise-grade XR development platform.

The XR as a service platform enables businesses to leverage a Unity-based SDK to create, distribute, and manage custom XR applications for chosen business use cases, such as immersive training and collaboration. The latest update aims to improve the content development pipeline and optimise the publishing of complex designs.

Sergio Barrera, the CTO of Virtualware, added:

The new 2.6 release introduces powerful features such as visual scripting and enhanced interoperability, allowing users to publish applications directly from the platform. This update gives developers complete freedom to create XR applications without limitations, streamlining the creative process and reducing deployment time.

The update comes as Virtualware serves major international clients such as GE Vernova, Ontario Power Generation, Gestamp, ADIF, the Spanish Ministry of Defense, and Invest WindsorEssex, helping each firm leverage RT3D immersive content.

VIROO v2.6: New Features

VIROO aims to deliver a streamlined and accessible method for businesses to create bespoke immersive content solutions. The firm notes that the XRaaS platform covers an entire Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) cycle from concept to deployment.

XR technology is not a one-size-fits-all problem solver. Many factors must be understood before a firm deploys XR in a business, namely finding a use case that suits the transformative technology and returns on the capital/time investment; platforms like VIROO aim to ease XR distribution with their platform of tools.

In the most recent 2.6 update, VIROO includes optimisations to the VIROO Studio SDK for Unity, allowing more knowledgeable end-users to create more sophisticated services. Further new integrations with Unity’s Visual Scripting and XR Interaction Toolkit allow IT teams to make the most of the famed real-time 3D engine.

Additionally, updates to VIROO development pipelines include third-party asset integration, Universal Render Pipeline compatibility, enhanced on-premises operation with deployment support, and optimised management tools.

Furthermore, Virtualware is introducing a VIROO App collection that contains enterprise-grade immersive applications ready for common enterprise use cases. Therefore, a VIRRO client can get near-tailor-made XR content without going through a lengthy development cycle.
