Varjo VR-3 Review: The Visuals

Perhaps one of the most significant features of the VR-3 from Varjo is its sensational field of view, which jumped from around 87 degrees in the previous VR-1, to around 115 degrees with a variable resolution that ranges all the way up to 71 degrees. After integrating feedback from previous customers, Varjo also expanded the human-eye resolution area, while reorienting it slightly to align with the area where users need the highest visual fidelity.

Built using the full-frame Bionic display, which originally appeared in the company’s VR-2 line last fall, the headsets also support ultra-high levels of resolution across the frame, for amazing peripheral content clarity. The full-frame Bionic display is unlike anything else on the market, capable of showing the smallest details with perfect rich clarity.

Additionally, the Varjo VR-3 also comes with a color accuracy that matches 99% with the color space for sRGB, everything looks just like it would in the real world.

It’s not always easy to find an immersive VR headset that also feels comfortable for extended periods of time. However, the VR-3 from Varjo comes with a new precision fit headband that’s up to 40% lighter than previous versions, and capable of adjustment across a multitude of dials. This impressive headset detects interpupillary distance and ultra-wide optical designs with bioconvex lenses to reduce reflection issues and eye strain.

Interestingly, Varjo also introduced new hygiene upgrades to the headset following the results of the 2020 pandemic, so the device is now easier to clean.
