Virtual health and wellness firm Rendever has updated its MultiBrush painting app with Meta Quest Avatar integration and Passthrough capabilities, the company announced on Friday.

The fresh revisions will allow users to paint in the same digital environment and view collaborators as avatars rather than floating headsets.

Added Passthrough features in April will patch several issues to boost user experiences, allowing artists to superimpose artwork in the real world for viewing in immediate physical surroundings.

Rendever has also updated its hit artistic platform by numbering brushes for easier access and moving environmental controls below each brush.

The updates will also resolve several minor issues with functionality, including multiplayer brush stroke recalibration, support for left-handed users, multiplayer sync, and private room security, among others. The celebrated VR platform has run on Pico Interactive and Meta Quest headsets in recent years.

Time100 Lauds Rendever for COVID-19 Efforts

The updates come just days after the critically-acclaimed VR app, which aims to use immersive solutions to tackle social isolation for senior citizens, was included in TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Companies for 2022 in late March.

The TIME100 list features some of the most influential leaders and people in the world creating a positive impact on society and has previously seen major firms such as Netflix, Zoom, Nintendo, Apple, Moderna, Zoom and others receive praise for their efforts.

The Boston, Massachusetts-based firm’s RendeverLive and RendeverFit solutions have provided physical and mental activities to seniors amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many of whom have been isolated due to national lockdowns and restrictions and suffer from depression and dementia.

Kyle Rand, Rendever Chief Executive and Co-Founder, explained how the pandemic had given people a “unique look” at the challenges of social isolation on mental and physical health. According to Rand, prolonged loneliness equated to 15 cigarettes per day, or a 30 percent jump in mortality.

He continued, stating,

“At Rendever, we’ve been leading the charge of ‘VR for good’ companies for years, showing how impactful the metaverse can be for those whose lives have become limited all across the world. [In] light of all of this and the impassioned dedication our team has shown, receiving this recognition is momentous for us, and a bright spot in motivating our industry’s evolving approach to building a healthier, happier, more connected aging experience for all of us”

Over 450 senior communities have adopted its platform, which includes a massive expansion across Monarch Healthcare Management, UCHealth, Oakmont Senior Living, Marquis Healthcare Communities, and many others in recent months, totalling more than one million VR experiences.

The VR firm has also been recognised by the 2021 Inc 5000 list, BostInno 2021 Fire Awards, CB Insight’s 2021 Digital Health 150, as well as the Anthem Awards’ Responsible Technology award for Best Influencer Endorsement, among many others.
