US virtual reality (VR) eLearning firm Prisms of Reality released an annual report in September outlining a series of funding opportunities to redefine science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning for a new generation of students and teachers.

Reports reveal that the Brooklyn-based firm received a series of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants, starting with a Phase One National Science Foundation (NSF) grant worth $250,000 USD and a Phase Two grant in September totalling $1.2 million.

Further seed funding from WndrCo and the WXR Fund, valued at $1.2 million, helped Prisms to scale up and accelerate its platform.

T-Mobile is also supporting Prisms with an additional $175,000 in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support and the German telecommunications company is helping the VR firm roll out its solution by supplying ten Title I schools with VR headsets.

Scaling at Prisms of Reality

The US firm slowly rolled out its VR solution to 9,000 students across the United States and predicts that early adopters across American districts will increase to roughly 50,000 students by the end of year.

From this growth, Prisms is expanding its customer success team to facilitate the onboarding experience for schools, students, and teachers, and is additionally hiring prominent Edtech alumni John Gamba as a Formal Advisor for Strategy and Business Development.

The growth presents a wealth of opportunities for the firm, and Anurupa Ganguly, CEO and Founder Prisms of Reality, is leading the advanced VR teaching solution in an effort to improve learning opportunities across the US.

In a statement, she said,

“Together, we will lead and inspire change in our world. That begins in the math classroom. And it begins now”

Teaching Algebra with Prisms

Prisms of Reality presents schools with a new way of learning, but currently the firm is dedicated to redefining teaching methods for learning algebra.

Debuting it’s ‘Pandemic’ learning module earlier this year, which provided a VR immersive learning experience with visualisations to assist students learning from home during lockdown.

As Prisms works towards a nationwide rollout of its algebra solutions, firms such as WestEd continues to support research into the platform to provide the best learning solution for students and teachers.
