Neuro Rehab VR (virtual reality), an immersive therapy startup, recently announced the launch of its teaching course for forward-thinking therapists.

The VR firm created the program to award participants by recognizing their ability to perform meaningful immersive occupational, mental, and physical therapy via the firm’s FDA-approved products.

It also designed its VR therapy certification program to include extended reality (XR) software and hardware training for modern therapists desiring to enhance their practices.

The FDA officially recognizes the Neuro Rehab VR’s XR Therapy System as a registered medical device, and its approval will allow patients in the US to access the service under most healthcare insurance plans.

Neuro Rehab VR’s, Co-Founder and CEO Veena Somareddy, added,

“We are proud to be the first to release the virtual reality therapy certification program to help physical therapists re-define the way they do rehabilitation”

Veena also explained how the enterprise is working to supply healthcare professionals with the tools and training required to perform successful evaluations remotely within a VR environment.

Immersive, Engaging Healthcare

According to Neuro Rehab VR, its XR solution can increase patient engagement by hosting checkups in immersive environments that simulate a realistic clinical backdrop or a “game-like” scenario.

The platform’s environments promote mobility with exercises focusing on a patient’s range of motion, reach, balance, and coordination.

Currently, the course provides approved treatments for individuals undergoing support for strokes, spinal cord and sports injuries, as well as treatment plans for those with Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.

In a statement, Christopher Vasquez, PTA, claimed that VR makes a notable difference in a “patient’s treatment, outcomes, and mindset,” adding,

“Patients that never thought they would walk independently again, are now doing it. VR was able to break them away from those self-limiting beliefs and improve their life. As a PTA, I want to empower other clinicians to use VR during their patient care to see just how transformative it can be”

Additionally, healthcare professionals can use a tablet to track metrics, adjust variables, and screencast a patient’s VR point of view. The service also has more than 30 bespoke activities.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based company works with a rich client portfolio that reaches private and public healthcare facilities across the US, including Cedars Sinai, Veterans Affairs, and Children’s Dallas.

In the first quarter this year, Neuro Rehab VR secured significant venture capital funding to enhance and scale the platform, with roughly 80 percent of the capital originating from local Texan groups.
