This week, Meta gained another XR Mobile Device Management (MDM) partner for its Horizon Managed Services by way of the integration of SkillsVR, a leading XR MDM solutions provider.
The third-party XR MDM solution joins a new line of similar solutions from ManageXR and ArborXR in an apparent attempt to boost the workplace usability of the Meta headset portfolio.
According to SkillsVR, the move to Meta Horizon Managed Services allows VR training to be “easier, smarter, and more impactful for enterprises.”
Moreover, James Coddington, SkillsVR CEO, added:
Our selection as an official Meta Horizon Managed Services MDM partner is a milestone for us. It allows us to leverage Meta’s powerful ecosystem while providing our clients with user-friendly and efficient VR training management.
The firm also notes that when a company leverages Meta Quest for training purposes, the user can deploy VR training tools via the official SkillVR integration, such as tracking learner progress, remote device management, and a unified MDM dashboard.
A New Step for Meta XR MDM
The announcement follows news that ManageXR and ArborXR, two leading companies providing products for efficiently deploying fleets of headsets across various work environments, offer tools that manage security, sign-ins, updates, and more.
Brad Scoggin, CEO of ArborXR, explained:
Enterprises need trusted, scalable solutions to successfully deploy XR—and that’s where ArborXR comes in. By partnering with Meta, we’re bringing together best-in-class VR solutions and enterprise device management, giving organizations the confidence, security, and support they need to scale XR with ease.
Zuckerberg’s company is launching a new service called “Meta Horizon Managed Services,” which will combine features from Meta for Business and Meta for Education. Initially, both Meta for Business and Meta for Education included device management tools; however, it seems that these functions are now being outsourced to various integrated third-party MDM solution providers.
According to the official pricing information on Meta’s website, the company is offering two pricing models for business and education customers, marking a clear shift from one enterprise-focused model to another.
This move could be truly transformative for Quest as it strengthens its position in the enterprise market. Meta recently launched Meta for Education, following a year of preparation for the educational model. Partnering with third-party experts like ManageXR and ArborXR may prove beneficial, as they have valuable insights into the challenges enterprise clients encounter when deploying fleets of headsets.
Meta’s direct collaboration with third-party MDM firms aims to create a unified solution. This could lead to a combined headset and MDM offering that enhances the Quest portfolio, positioning it as a leading provider of enterprise headsets.
