California’s LBX Immersive is loaning virtual reality (VR) headsets and software to students studying ‘Operative Neuroanatomy in VR’ at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

The Stanford course is one of the first of its kind, and other institutions such as Husson University and North Penn School District are also advancing education in extended reality (XR) and spatial computing.

LBX’s website lists VR headsets such as Varjo XR-3, HP Reverb G2, and Pico Neo 2, but has not confirmed which headset will be deployed at Stanford.

The company is working directly with course leaders and students to provide the best VR solution for Stanford, and each loaned headset includes eLearning tools Engage VR and Victory XR built-in for the best immersive experiences.

Engage VR is also hosting a 360-degree spherical 3D model of the human brain for Stanford students to study in an immersive online learning space.

Meanwhile, LBX is offering further VR eLearning content under ‘Victory XR,’ providing Stanford with cost-effective dissection training via its Cadaver Lab immersive application.

The Victory XR Platform

The programme follows an announcement from LBX Immersive, who revealed Victory XR had signed a reseller partnership agreement with Mare Island firm.

LBX Immersive also now offers Victory XR’s interactive VR content as a bundled package alongside its properietary hardware.

Additionally, the company has established a strong working relationship with Engage VR, the Irish platform hosting the 3D models on its eLearning platform.

Moreover, LBX and Victory XR host a virtual campus via Engage VR to provide an affordable and accessible immersive solution to high schools and universities.

Hosted on Engage VR

The Engage VR platform is a brilliant host for LBX products as it is compatible across several VR Headsets such as the Quest 2 and the Pico Neo 2, as well as select laptops or mobile phones.

This facilitates integration of its products to empower individuals when using VR tools for learning experiences or enterprise training.

The news comes after the eLearning platform recently unveiled Engage version 1.9, which features new content, additional support for MacOS, and support for the VIVE Focus 3, VIVE Pro 2, and Pico Neo 3.

The developments come after the Waterford-based firm raised $10.7 million for a business metaverse initiative which teases a full-fledged digital city.
