Late last week, MediSim VR debuted a VR training lab to upskill new and existing healthcare workers in Gujarat. The announcement introduces the VR Skill Training Lab located at KD Hospital, a first of its kind for the healthcare space.
The training facility will provide students and professionals with XR hardware and software solutions that enable users to interact with immersive learning scenarios safely and with repeated use.
Dr. Adith Chinnaswami, the Co-Founder of MediSim VR, added:
Working together with KD Hospital to set up Gujarat’s first VR skill training lab is a milestone for MediSim VR. The new lab is set to benefit students’ and healthcare professionals skill development, as it equips them with hands-on experience, boosting their confidence and expertise in medical procedures.
The news comes as Medisim VR lead the region’s immersive healthcare learning initiatives. The solutions provider offers VR environments, AI-ready assessment tools, and support to improve healthcare professional readiness in India.
Bridging Healthcare Knowledge Gap
The Hon’ble Minister, Rushikesh Patel, Health & Family Welfare, Gujarat, opened the learning facility, assisting MediSim VR in bridging the gap between theoretical healthcare knowledge and practical application.
Moreover, the new VR training lab is an official regional Center of Excellence (CoE), meaning the facility will be able to reach KD Hospital healthcare students and professionals. Additionally, the firm is extending its support to local Gujarat nurses, boosting healthcare education statewide.
Dr. Anuja Desai, the Executive Director of KD Hospital, also added:
By integrating this state-of-the-art simulation training technology into our curriculum, we not only enhance our students’ learning experience but also serve as a training hub for healthcare professionals across Gujarat. As a Center of Excellence, the MediSim VR Lab will play a significant role in upskilling nursing students. We are proud to lead this educational change and prepare our students as healthcare leaders of the future.
The Medisim VR advancements follow a forecasted boom of XR healthcare solutions in the US and internationally. In May, Dimension Market Research released a report highlighting future growth forecasts for the healthcare augmented and virtual reality market. The report indicated a significant acceleration in the sector in the coming years.
According to Dimension Market Research, the global augmented and virtual reality market in healthcare is estimated to grow to $19.6 billion by 2033, with an accompanying 20.2 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR).
Moreover, the report adds that the current 2024 market value is $3.7 billion, meaning the forecast perceives a roughly $15.2 billion increase.
Specifically, the North American AR/VR healthcare market is dominating the sector’s growth, with the region securing 51.1 per cent of the market’s revenue so far in 2024. Dimension Market Research attributed the region’s growth to increased technology adoption, significant R&D investments, and government support, which drives industry adoption.
