Hewlett-Packard, a leading IT innovator, recently endorsed a Manchester-based business supplying UV light sanitation solutions for VR headsets. According to HP, the UV-C light solution is the only reliable and entirely safe way to disinfect headsets in the current landscape.

HP recommends Uvisan’s UV-C cabinets as the ultimate effective and safe method for disinfection, guaranteeing no damage to any virtual reality headset hardware. The endorsement comes at a time when finding the right solution for disinfecting VR solutions is a priority for many brands. HP carried out a series of rigorous tests with the UV-C disinfecting cabinets to ensure they were an effective alternative to standard disinfectant wipes and chemicals.

Keeping VR Headsets Clean

In a world rocked by COVID-19, VR headsets are emerging as a crucial tool for collaboration and productivity. Keeping these headsets clean for safe re-use is essential to any business. The Uvisan UV-C cabinets promises a powerful and reliable way to disinfect a headset without any potentially dangerous chemicals or scrubbing.

HP tested the light solution on both new and existing HP tools, simulating the effects of around two years of daily use on each headset, to prove there was no damage to the items. The tests checked everything from appearance, to functionality, and structural deterioration over 3 months.

Following the tests, the UV-C light emerged as the only method for disinfecting HP’s VR headsets recommended by the HP company. Uvisan is now a recommended provider, according to HP, for any company that wants to avoid the potentially damaging effects of disinfectant wipes on sensitive sensors and surfaces.

According to Chairman of Uvisan, David Marks, the recommendation from a tech giant like HP adds significant credibility to the company’s believe that UV-C is a must-have for disinfection in today’s COVID environment. These solutions are far more effective and efficient than simply using wipes.

Disinfecting VR Hardware

Uvisan notes that its easy-to-use UV-C cabinets do not require any chemicals or liquids that would cause damage to delicate VR technology. The UV-C exposure strategy is safe to use for a wide range of appliances, including VR headsets, phones, and laptops. A single five-minute cleaning cycle can clean up to 99.99% of bacteria and viruses with the included medical-grade lamps.

Uvisan cabinets support the simultaneous charging and cleaning of up to 36 VR headsets at once. The cabinets are all lockable to ensure the protection of assets too. Businesses reliant on shared VR technology will now be able to enjoy a quick and effective turnaround on headsets, so that every user has a pristine headset. According to Uvisan, they expect this disinfection strategy to become the standard for more manufacturers in the months ahead.

The UVC light solution from Uvisan is now HP recommended for devices like the HP WMR Headset, and the HP Reverb G1, G2, and G2 Omnicept. Already, Uvisan cabinets are becoming popular choices among a range of organisations in multiple industries, including offices, universities, studios, and distribution centres.
