Virtual reality (VR) office space provider Arthur announced on Wednesday its Professional Edition collaborative platform had moved from beta to stable release, advancing key features for Fortune 500 enterprises and organisations to connect in the virtual world.

Arthur has hosted virtual spaces for top-tier companies and organisations such as Nestle, Societe Generale, the United Nations, PwC, and Boston Consulting Group, among others.

Christoph Fleischmann, Arthur Founder and Chief Executive, who leads the platform’s development, said,

“As a company with a mission of transforming the future of work, coming out of beta is the next step in the evolution of productivity and is a new chapter for Arthur. Virtual reality offers innovative solutions that no other technology is able to accomplish. Arthur provides enterprises with a solution capable of providing deep and meaningful collaboration”

He added firms could use the platform to solve internal communication concerns amid the rise of new hybrid work models, lower travelling and office expenses, and reduce carbon emissions.

Five Key Strategies of Arthur

According to the company, the stable release of the professional edition would offer several crucial updates to allow top leading firms to integrate the platform into hybrid work models.

Enterprise teams could customise accessibility features for management and sub-teams, set restrictions, and designate user roles.

Headset platforms such as the Pico Neo 3 Pro and HTC Focus 3 would support Arthur’s Professional Edition over the next few weeks.

Arthur developers have added new productivity features such as sticky notes as well as multi-user, low latency screen sharing tools, allowing attendees to capture screen share snapshots.

Additional features include a versatile pinboard feature where teams can brainstorm ideas, kanban boards for organising team workflows, and numerous others.

Users can also access whiteboards, virtual video recording, integrated video, spatial audio, audio zones for private talks, recording and notetaking features, and screenshots across the real and virtual world.

The new stable release will also support vital scalability features, allowing over 70 attendees to join rooms at the same time.

Most importantly, Arthur offered high-level security to guard user data, and is set to receive system and organisational control (SOC) II certification. Protection includes ubiquitous availability, data backups, and end-to-end encryption for all information.

Test-Driving Arthur

XR Today tested the stable platform, which proved an incredible experience on the Oculus Quest 2.

After customising a photorealistic avatar, we joined the event for socialising, drinks, and a breathtaking room with a view.

Avatar controls were simple to learn and people new to the platform could book short trainer sessions.

Manoeuvrability allowed attendees to browse 360-degree environments with teleportation-style controls, and avatars featured real-time hand, arm, and body movements.

Attendees could also network with virtual business cards, enter multiple bespoke virtual spaces, and join conference rooms to hear speeches.

In the conference room, keynote speakers such as Arthur’s Christoph Fleischmann, Andreas Klemmer, Director of Training at the United Nations International Training Centre for the International Labour Organisation (ITCILO), Patricia Faur, Digital Innovation and Extended Reality Lead at BCG, Deepak Sharma, Global IT Director for Agility, and others addressed the audience on the benefits of using the Authur, hailing the platform for its security, ease of use, and utility amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Fleischmann told XR Today the platform provided voice-to-text transcription, and potential options such as real-time translation were a possibility in future updates.

The event later wrapped up with a meet-and-greet in three bespoke meeting spaces, where attendees could learn more about use cases for the rising platform.

Additional Features

The platform provides virtual spaces for more than collaborative work needs, and can host events and conferences as well as provide spaces for breaks, one-to-one discussions, and social networking.

Teams can share collaborations from Arthur to integrated software platforms such as SharePoint, Google Drive, Jira, and many others.

To resolve technical issues, the platform provides a dedicated 2D support team.

The developments come as the platform aims to address the needs of key global industries to expand its VR solution for pharmaceutical, insurance, consulting, energy, and banking clients.

According to figures from the VR company, enterprises have spent up to 1.6 million minutes on the platform in 2021, and Arthur notes a growing demand for the virtual space solution.
