This week, XR education solutions provider Avantis Education revealed ClassVR software and content enhancements during the ISTELive event in Denver. During the event, Avantis Education showcased the “cross-curricular value” of VR and AR education products and the new ClassVR features. Moreover, the firm presented best practices when using XR solutions, taking the stage alongside Avantis Education’s U.S. education ambassadors.
Via the ClassVR solutions, Avantis Education is launching Eduverse360, which expands the firm’s content offerings by adding over 300,000 360° learning assets, including images and videos which feature information from around the globe.
Avantis Education is aiming to create an engaging service that allows teachers to take students on virtual field trips using the newly enhanced integrations.
While immersive field trip education solutions are not a replacement for in-person visitations, services like Avantis Education or others provide a simple and accessible route for teaching students without spending money on expensive trips—two teaching methods that can be used in tandem instead of VR become a complete alternative.
Chris Klein, the Vice President of Education at Avantis Education, added:
There is mounting evidence that bringing VR/AR into lessons helps improve student outcomes by creating immersive learning experiences and increasing knowledge retention – across all subject areas. We’re continually developing ClassVR to meet the evolving needs of education, and Eduverse content is at the core of this strategy.
New ClassVR Features
The firm notes that it distributes the 300,000 educational assets in response to a new and increasing demand for “curriculum-aligned content” that reaches various academic settings and classrooms—from math to English to biology.
The new features include a new homepage with an intuitive playlist and content answers. The ClassVR product will also provide a sidebar with live notes for teachers, interactive 3D learning assets, improved teacher admon tools, and online continuing professional development (CPD) training materials for personal and professional development – the last feature will debut July 1, 2024.
Huw Williams, the CEO of Avantis Education, also added:
At Avantis we are committed to continuous innovation and supporting our customers in every possible way,” said Avantis CEO . “These latest enhancements and resources reflect our commitment to providing educators with the best tools and training to create an engaging and effective learning environment for their students.
According to Avantis Education, its ClassVR solution is currently installed in many K-12 education institutions, and more than 2 million students use it in 90 countries.
More on Avantis Education
Avantis Education is deep in a product expansion that sees the firm reach new students and regions. Earlier this year, Avantis rolled out its Eduverse products to St. Vrain Valley Schools, a Colarado-based school district. In a first for the company, the partnership provided all 60 schools in the district with access to Eduverse’s library of immersive VR and AR services.
The new VR solution is set to be integrated next semester, and Eduverse has already been included in the district’s ClassLink platform. This will enable teachers to access the content using a single sign-on password, making it a simple and smooth process for new users.
Late last year, Avantis Education partnered with the Saint Louis Public Schools (SLPS) district to integrate its ClassVR service into 17 educational institutions. The SLPS district used federal ESSER funding to acquire XR learning software and hardware.
According to Avantis, this provides the 17 schools with “thousands” of AR and VR learning content from its ClassVR service. Avantis also emphasizes that its ClassVR solution is eligible for ESSER funding due to its proven support for student achievement and addressing learning losses.
