Dutch tech startup Fectar has recently announced it has reached a milestone of 3 million app installations for its augmented and virtual reality (VR/AR) platform.

The Hertogenbosch-based firm has quickly become one of the top platforms in the world for 3D VR/AR content, for allowing schools, business, and consumers to build and share their creative works.

Fector is widely used across mobile phones and tablets, with organisations and firms relying on the platform for 3D-based training, presentations, and virtual events, among others.

The news comes just after the firm announced it had successfully raised €1.5 million in financing, with the growth capital funded by existing and new investors, beating expectations.

The company is set to complete Series A financing by the end of 2021, potentially allowing it to meet its ambition to become the world’s most widely-used VR/AR platform on both on iOS and Android.

Eugène Kuipers, Chief Executive for Fectar, said:

“You can think of our platform as Youtube for AR and VR. If you want to share a video with colleagues or the rest of the world, choose Youtube, if you want to share content in augmented and virtual reality then choose Fectar”

Consumers are quickly turning to 3D collaborative spaces amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, and the Dutch tech company experienced meteoric growth in the pandemic, shortly after its launch in 2020, at nearly 2 million downloads globally.

The spike in demand for Fectar’s platform has been compared to Instagram in 2010, the company noted.

Shanghai-based VR/AR firm Starlink launched similar product solutions last week for clients in industry training and education, allowing up to 40 learners to connect in a VR learning space on the platform.
