Lenovo’s Head of XR Commercialization reveals how the tech giant is tackling enterprise adoption challenges through comprehensive support services and strategic partnerships.
In an exclusive interview with XR Today, Jason McGuigan, Head of XR Commercialization at Lenovo, outlined the company’s ambitious strategy to accelerate enterprise XR adoption through a unique combination of hardware, software, and support services.
The world’s largest PC manufacturer is taking a distinctly enterprise-focused approach to XR, partnering with Meta to deliver Horizon OS-based solutions wrapped in Lenovo’s enterprise-grade support infrastructure. This includes the newly introduced Lenovo Integrated Solution Support, providing businesses with 60-second access to engineers—a stark contrast to traditional consumer support models.
“We’re not just moving boxes with devices in them,” McGuigan explained. “We’re delivering complete solutions that include the hardware, ISV software, and support services on a single purchase order.”
A key differentiator is Lenovo’s focus on organizations ready to scale beyond proof-of-concept. The company specifically targets enterprises with existing XR champions who have already demonstrated value and are prepared for broader deployment.
McGuigan highlighted education and public sector as prime markets, citing universal training applications that can be deployed across multiple organizations without costly customization. He also emphasized AI’s transformative impact, noting that content creation timelines have collapsed from six months to as little as six weeks thanks to generative AI tools.
Looking ahead, McGuigan sees AI-powered experiences, particularly free-flowing avatar conversations and on-device AI implementation, as the catalyst that will drive explosive XR growth over the next few years.
