What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?

Earlier this year we attended the Learning Technologies show in London, and the interest in CenarioVR and VR training in general has never been higher. Our booth was likely the busiest booth at the show. It was great to see the hard work and effort of our team recognized for creating such a unique product.

Who is your business hero and why?

My business hero is Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft. His leadership has been transformative, guiding Microsoft through a significant cultural and technological shift towards cloud computing and artificial intelligence. I admire his emphasis on empathy, inclusivity, and a growth mindset, which are essential values in today’s rapidly evolving tech industry. Nadella’s ability to foster innovation and adaptability within such a large organisation is truly inspiring, and his approach aligns with the vision I have for our company, one that thrives on continuous learning and embraces change to drive technological advancement.

What’s the biggest business mistake you’ve made and what did you learn from it?

Probably the biggest business mistake I’ve made is not recognising competitive threats in the industry quickly enough in the past. As a technical leader, its vital to keep the pulse of the business landscape in your industry, and be able to predict the incoming waves of technological change. Missing this can create a rift with customer perception that is almost impossible to come back from. I have certainly learned that recognising these industry trends and adapting to them is vital to keeping pace in business today.

What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?

The most inspirational book I’ve ever read is ‘The Innovator’s Dilemma’ by Clayton M. Christensen. It really taught me to recognise disruptive innovations in my industry and the consequences of not doing so. The importance of adaptability and being open to change in a rapidly involving tech landscape is something that everyone can learn from.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?

For me it is really twofold, keeping up with the pace of change with advancements such as AI, while still managing an ever growing number of cybersecurity threats. As cyber attacks become more sophisticated and frequent, protecting our systems and data requires a proactive and multi-layered approach. This includes investing in advanced security technologies, conducting regular security audits, and educating employees about best practices. Ensuring the security of our infrastructure while enabling innovation and agility is a constant balancing act.

What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?

Along with probably every business that is involved with technology, AI will certainly have the greatest impact on us this year. AI has changed not only the way we can create our own content, but allows us to change and shape our products to better allow customers to create using our tools. AI is being weaved into the fabric of everything we do at all levels.
