What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?
One of my proudest achievements as a VR Developer was spearheading the creation of a VR Simulator for an Italian-based company specialising in greenhouse machinery. The project presented a unique challenge: our client demanded a high level of realism and immersion. To meet this lofty goal, my team at Daedalus XR and I had to stretch the boundaries of VR technology. It was a journey of innovation and dedication, but the end result was truly exceptional.
Who is your business hero and why?
I draw inspiration from Luca Mastella, an Italian entrepreneur who successfully established an edtech startup in Italy. His pragmatic approach and insightful guidance, often shared through social media channels, serve as a source of motivation and learning for me.
What’s the biggest business mistake you’ve made and what did you learn from it?
Reflecting on my journey, one of my most significant business mistakes was underestimating the importance of client evaluation. Not all clients share the same level of dedication or sincerity. Some engagements turned out to be mere time sinks, highlighting the necessity of thoroughly vetting potential collaborators to ensure mutual commitment and success.
What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?
Among the plethora of business literature, ‘Running Lean’ by Ash Maurya stands out as a personal favourite. This insightful book provided me with invaluable insights into the intricacies of startup management, offering practical frameworks and strategies to navigate the entrepreneurial landscape with confidence and efficiency.
What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?
Navigating the ever-evolving landscape of software updates, particularly in game engines like Unreal Engine, is both exciting and demanding. While the constant influx of new features and improvements fuels innovation, staying abreast of the latest developments requires unwavering attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning.
What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?
I firmly believe that Mixed Reality (MR) is poised to revolutionise the XR industry. With the emergence of purpose-built headsets and a growing ecosystem of MR applications, we stand on the brink of a transformative era. The convergence of physical and digital realities will unlock unprecedented opportunities for immersive experiences and redefine the way we interact with technology.
