What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?

The highlight of my work in 2024 so far has been working on use cases for the Industrial Metaverse, focusing on XR and IIoT technologies. This project has allowed me to combine my passions for augmented reality and industrial innovation, creating solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible in the digital transformation space.

Who is your business hero and why?

My business hero is John Carmack. He’s not only my favourite game developer but also a key player in the development of Oculus/Quest. His innovative approach and technical expertise have revolutionised the gaming and VR industries. Carmack’s relentless pursuit of excellence and his ability to push the boundaries of technology inspire me to think creatively and strive for breakthroughs in my own work.

What’s the biggest business mistake you’ve made and what did you learn from it?

One of the biggest business mistakes I’ve made was holding off on sharing my work until I thought it was absolutely perfect. I spent so much time tweaking and refining that I missed out on valuable feedback early in the process. What I learned from this experience is the importance of showing your work early and often. Don’t be afraid if it’s not completed or perfect—sharing your progress allows others to give you feedback and helps you adjust accordingly. This approach not only saves time but also leads to better results.

What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?

The most inspirational book I’ve ever read is How Innovation Works: And Why It Flourishes in Freedom by Matt Ridley. It helped me understand innovation and creative problem solving on a deeper level. Ridley’s insights into how freedom fuels innovation have profoundly influenced my approach to tackling challenges and developing new ideas.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?

The biggest challenge I face in my role in 2024 is that many manufacturing companies have yet to upgrade their IT infrastructure in the era of AI. Technology is evolving very fast, and this rapid pace becomes a significant problem for companies that don’t have a plan or are resistant to change. Helping these companies navigate and adapt to these advancements is both a critical and demanding task.

What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?

The technology that will have the greatest impact on our business this year is generative AI. It’s providing us with new tools that simplify our design and development workflows, allowing us to explore and test more ideas faster than ever before. This acceleration in our creative processes is opening up exciting possibilities and driving innovation within our projects.
