AT&T, Samsung, and Google alumni, Gabe Paez founded The Wild in 2017, to help professionals (particularly in the AEC segment), work together in an innovative virtual environment.

Initially, The Wild focused on 3D visualisation of AEC projects and VR prototyping for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. But last year, it added to these capabilities with a new feature called Tours allowing users to create end-to-end walkthroughs in a virtual world to overc9me the constraints caused by travel restrictions and social distancing.

One company has even used The Wild to build an entire HQ campus in virtual reality.

Let us explore its features in more detail.

What are the Key Features of The Wild?

The Wild does not focus on persona recreation or avatar design too much. Instead, the platform is all about hands-on collaboration and interaction with 3D objects in a manner that directly contributes to the project at hand.

Cross-platform support

The Wild is compatible with an impressive range of platforms, including popular headsets such as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, and Windows Mixed Reality devices. There is also augmented reality rendering for iOS smartphones or Mac/Windows PCs, in case collaboration participants do not have access to a VR headset.

Product development aids

At the heart of The Wild’s value proposition lie powerful tools for your product development activities. You can import 3D files and use the platform’s native sketching capabilities to build prototypes directly within the VR world. You could create a physical replica of 2D concepts, taking advantage of the spatial accuracy of the VR environment. Tools like speech to text make collaboration simpler by adding comments that stay persistent within the VR suite.

An immersive productivity experience

The entire VR world in The Wild doubles up as a whiteboard for productivity. When importing 3D models, the visibility tool lets you control layer viability so that you can view various design options within a single space. The Measure tool lets you gauge distances between objects or two points in space, while the Inspect Tool fetches a list of metadata for BIM files.

Built for BIM

As is probably clear by now, the majority of use cases for The Wild revolve around BIM files – so, expectedly, the platform comes with native integrations for Revit, SketchUp, and BIM 360. You can meet with different project stakeholders inside BIM 360-hosted models and go through the design together in real-time.

What are the Benefits of Using The Wild?

The Wild reports that its customers have seen measurable benefits from using the platform, getting projects approved 50% faster and saving 100+ days in presentation prep time. Its unlimited cloud storage capability, in particular, offers a massive advantage when handling large BIM files and complex AEC projects.

How Much Will It Cost?

The Wild offers floating licenses that can be used across different team members. Prices start at $295 per month for 3 floating licenses and up to 2GB of monthly uploads, going up to $1795 for 10 licenses and 10GB.
