Immersive Industry Highlights

Many XR All-Star members noted the release of new products in 2024 as their industry highlights. With the latest AR smart glasses, MR headsets, and VR headsets entering the market and more to come in 2025, the increasingly large hardware market seems to be creating a healthy space for certain XR application developments.

Kevin Joyce, the CEO of Tiny Brains, reflected this, noting his highlight coming from “multiple successful new product launches,” as did the CEO of Virtuleap, Amir Bozorgzadeh, who stated the “launch of Cogniclear VR,” as a highlight.

CEO Arvizio Taimoor Nawab also reflected on the successful launch of XR services, adding:

Taking our AR Instructor Platform to the next level by integration AI and other enterprise-critical features. Development and deployment of our AI Validator solutions. Expanding our offering to include customized solutions leveraging our AR and AI technology blocks.

Founder and CEO of Augmento Wesley Pabis expressed his highlight as the successful launch of “the Augmento experience app for big events. ” Head of Experience Design, Atlantic Productions Aditi Rajagopal, noted their highlight as their direction of “an [XR] experience that brought a pioneering electric aircraft to life on Apple Vision Pro.”

“The experience was shown at the Farnborough International Airshow and showcased by Digital Catapult (the UK innovation agency for advanced digital technology) as an outstanding use of XR,” Rajagopal explained.

Founder and CEO of LinguaTech, Amany Alkhayat, said:

My biggest business highlight in 2024 was developing Ace It XR, my mixed reality job interview training app with AI avatars to help non-native speakers improve their interview skills and reduce anxiety. This project aligns with my doctoral research and my focus on AI and multimodal interaction in education.

Some XR leaders are noting industry-wide recognition of their immersive products, with the Founder of ArchaeoXR, Lida Liberopoulou, stating, “My business highlight of 2024 was being selected as a finalist for the AIXR Social Impact Award.”

Product Owner, FITec, Rodrigo Mulinário Ramos also reflected in industry recognition, adding:

It was an incredible honor to be part of the immersive short film “Realidade Imersa” (“Immersed Reality”), which highlighted the impact of the 2024 floods in Rio Grande do Sul, alongside some of the most talented minds in Brazilian Extended Reality. Having this experience showcased at COP29 in Azerbaijan made it even more special and unforgettable!

Success Stories

Alongside the new products coming out of the XR space, leading to many XR All-Star highlights, many XR champions are optimizing valued products and establishing a broader market presence to lead XR in favourable directions.

Director of Safety Innovation, Pocketknife Group, Cam Stevens, noted their highlight as being to support “organizations to navigate the convergence of multiple technologies,” similarly, Technology Evangelist Kevin O’Donovan said:

My business highlight of 2024 was driving transformative conversations on the impact of the Industrial Metaverse and Digital Twin technologies that resonated with folks, opening doors to strategic partnerships with top players in the energy and technology sectors.

Co-founder & CEO, Azmi Studio, Shah Reyad Farabi stated their “business highlight of Azmi Studio in 2024 was achieving a strong reputation as a top-tier agency specializing in programming and technology solutions.”

Farabi noted Azmi Studio’s success in delivering “over 11 XR projects, including 9 on Fiverr, establishing itself as a trusted partner in the XR industry.” Farabi also noted the company gained “recognition and collaborations with global agencies, offering cost-effective, project-based software development” in 2024.

Azmi Studio also “strengthened its team with skilled developers specializing in XR and Shopify solutions, driving innovation and quality,” Farabi noted, which in turn led to success stories such as “nearing Top Level Seller status on Fiverr, reflecting exceptional client satisfaction and consistent performance. These achievements underline Azmi Studio’s commitment to quality, innovation, and client satisfaction, making 2024 a year of growth and recognition.”

David Moreno, Chief Business Development and Marketing Officer of Virtualware, noted great success in 2024:

Virtualware achieved 90% EBITDA growth in 2024, driven by SaaS expansion in North America and acquisitions in Europe. The strategic partnership agreement established with HTC VIVE in October 2024 is now enabling Virtualware’s XR technology to enter the US market through HTC’s channels. Recently, both companies inaugurated their first Enterprise Simulation Lab at the HTC VIVE Americas Headquarters in Berkeley, California, reflecting their shared mission to accelerate the adoption of immersive technologies within the Americas market. In Canada, the company partnered with Invest WindsorEssex and Nexstar Energy on a 3.5 million euros technical training program for battery manufacturing professionals, supported by the Canadian government.

“Virtualware plays an essential role in this partnership program by bringing its expertise in immersive technology,” added Moreno, who also added, “as a program partner, the company will design and deliver cutting-edge VR training modules in a custom-built VR room tailored for hands-on training, all powered by VIROO.

Moreover, Moreno highlighted how “Virtualware acquired Simumatik, a Swedish firm specializing in emulation software and digital twins, for 1.37 million euros. While the acquisition did not impact 2024 results, the company has already started generating new business opportunities with its industrial client base around Simumatik’s technology.

Major Milestones

With the industry’s success comes the marking of significant milestones from individual and industry-wide perspectives, as noted by Create Worlds’ CRO, Sören Syrbe, who highlighted how “at Meta Connect 2024, Meta announced that its Quest app store now fully supports 2D and spatial apps, including Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).”

At an individual company scale, the CEO & Founder of ARuVR, Frank Furnari, said that “in 2024, ARuVR reached a pivotal milestone by expanding its immersive XR training solutions across new global markets and forging strategic partnerships with major enterprises.”

Furnari also added:

One of the key milestones was the introduction of the AI-driven features to the ARuVR omni-platform, streamlining the creation and deployment of immersive training modules for corporate clients. This ambitious drive into new territories and innovative product enhancements positioned ARuVR as a leader in the fast-evolving XR training arena and underscored the company’s commitment to shaping the future of workforce development.

Lucky Lance K Gobindram, President of Kinemeric, also said that a 2024 highlight for him came when Kinemeric “cemented its position as a leader in XR innovation by delivering groundbreaking immersive solutions across enterprise, healthcare, and luxury retail.”

Gobindram explained:

A standout moment was our collaboration with major industry players to redefine spatial computing experiences, particularly in training, simulation, and high-end customer engagement. We also expanded our consulting and development capabilities, helping businesses integrate AI and XR more seamlessly than ever. It was a year of strategic growth, impactful partnerships, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in immersive tech.

In closing, Microsoft technical designer Davide Zhang noted that their success came via the collaboration of industry leaders, noting, “We shipped the seamless connection between Windows 11 PC and Meta Quest 3/3s. Quest as a natural extension of PC and mixed reality as a natural extension of Windows are powerful ideas that we hope to drive forward with our partnership with Meta.”
