In a recent report, Apple’s CEO and spatial computing champion, Tim Cook, confirmed that the recently released Apple Vision Pro would land in China in 2024.

The news comes as Apple plans to scale its investment into its Chinese regional partners that are already assisting the firm in creating device components and controlling supply chains.

The CEO is visiting China due to a decline in iPhone sales. The news follows similar narratives from Samsung, who noted that smartphone sales are decreasing, and in response, Samsung is increasingly XR devices investment.

According to reports, Cook’s most recent visit marks the third time the CEO has visited China regarding declining device sales.

Notably, China is deep in XR device application and development via firms such as Xreal and DPVR. A market Apple can seemingly crack with its much-touted device.

More on Vision Pro

The Apple Vision Pro is a high-end XR device for the enterprise market. It is priced at $3,500 and has impressive specifications, including options for 256GB/512GB/1TB storage, a 23 million pixel display, and a 90Hz/96Hz/100Hz refresh rate. Other features include spatial audio, Bluetooth connectivity, eye tracking, hand tracking, and a battery life of up to 2 hours. The device weighs between 21.2-22.9 ounces.

Recently, Apple Vision Pro added support for WebXR browser-based Safari immersive applications. Additionally, NVIDIA’s Omniverse is now available via Omniverse Cloud APIs, allowing Apple Vision Pro users to customize and distribute high-quality OpenUSD file types on mobile devices without compromising content or performance quality, thanks to cloud-compensated computing processes.

Apple has also released its first public update to the XR device, which includes improvements to many core features. The company is also improving enrollment for enterprise application access, including support for workers undergoing account-driven enrollment. The new Vision Pro procedures include installation, managing Apple IDs, networking, and providing support for services like Exchange and Google Workspace.

The latest update for Vision Pro users provides more control over 3D asset interaction, allowing for easier manipulation of spatial objects and closer interaction with 3D assets. This feature is essential for small office/work-from-home environments and other on-the-go use cases.
