XRHealth, formerly ‘VRHealth’, is a Boston-based mixed reality (MR) therapeutic applications provider and has been supplying patients in the US with a virtual telehealth clinic since March 1st last year.

From the comfort of their homes, patients start their journey towards recovery with help from certified therapists who provide professional treatment in a virtual reality (VR) medical clinic.

Upon choosing a therapist, patients can organise initial online video meetings to establish a care plan. After evaluation, patients receive a VR headset with preloaded applications registered with the FDA.

Patients can later organise meetings with dedicated online therapists, who can track their progress in real-time using recorded data from each session.

Compassionate therapists at XRHealth provide further support for patients with ADHD and anxiety, along with personalised or group therapy sessions for substance abuse, sufferers, it was announced.

Eran Orr, CEO of XRHealth said “virtual support groups in VR will be able to ease loneliness and isolation.”

Patients can also access other treatments such as physical , occupational, and speech therapy, as well as various pain management treatments.

The platform also allows users to access expert healthcare and provides outreach for people who are forced to self-isolate due to Covid-19.

XRHealth Responds to the Pandemic

The XRHealth clinics opened early last year and had to answer a large number inquiries due to the pandemic at its height.

The clinics were immediately ready to connect patients with doctors and expanded the healthcare platform globally, namely after helping Israel’s Sheba Medical Center (SMC) treat COVID-19 patients quarantined at the hospital.

Dr Galia Barkai, Head of Telemedicine at Sheba, commented:

“The ability to stay in touch with the outside world will certainly help the mental state of those quarantined for extended periods”

XRHealth have a strong partnership with the SMC and in 2019, they announced plans to provide a ‘fully VR-based hospital’ to their patients.

XRhealth is still providing care to those in need during the pandemic, offering immersive therapy for the longer-term neurological and psychological effects of coronavirus infections.

Those wanting to receive immersive healthcare from XRHealth can get started at their website.
