A Twitter user has leaked promotional videos that reportedly reveal new Oculus virtual reality (VR) software and hardware, reports have found.

The leaked videos reveal refinements to avatar customisations and multi-user connectivity for the social media giant’s upcoming Horizons Metaverse platform. Animations also show new controllers and headset designs, suggesting the long-rumoured ‘Quest Pro’ is under development.

The Menlo Park-based firm has not verified the claims, but the news comes as Facebook prepares to rebrand into a Metaverse firm at the Oculus Connect event on Thursday.

Facebook has also not confirmed the presence of the Quest Pro at the upcoming event, despite Twitter posts from Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO and Founder, and Andrew Bosworth, Vice President of Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), revealing three prototype VR headsets.

Quest Pro for Enterprise

The animations, which are visually similar to Oculus health and safety videos for first-time users, could potentially be upcoming marketing material for the Connect event.

Some of the videos demonstrate collaboration and work tools for VR workspaces, while others showcase improvements in multiplayer connectivity for enterprises sharing immersive experiences.

One of the leaks revealed enterprise-grade collaborative tools for a mixed reality (MR) workspace, including features such as shared 3D visualisations and controller-free virtual desktop integrations.

Three users were also shown seamlessly jumping between a game, meeting room, and movie theatre, reflecting the features of Facebook’s upcoming Horizon Metaverse platform.

Currently, Facebook Horizons is in beta, but users can get a taste of the experience with Facebook’s  powerful Workrooms collaboration tool.

The news comes after Facebook announced the rollout of a $10 million USD fund for content creators to develop Horizon-exclusive content and a further $50 million USD fund to develop an ethical Metaverse.
