What is The Global XR Content Telco Alliance?
The Global XR Content Telco Alliance is an international partnership between multiple Telecom giants, with their current list of partners: LG Uplus, Qualcomm Technologies, Bell Canada, Japan’s KDDI, China Telecom, Mobile Business Group Chunghwa Telecom, Orange, Verizon.
The alliance was facilitated by South Korea’s third-largest telecom group, LG Uplus, in September last year, and is looking to build the collaborative group to harness technologies released by Qualcomm. For example, the recent flagship Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform. Qualcomm are focusing on innovating with 5G, AI, gaming and camera technologies, having hardware providers like this is a massive gain to any group in the alliance.
With Trigger jumping into the alliance, it is clear to see the future of the partnership. Trigger has had great success working with pre-existing software and hardware platforms to create massive campaigns. Proving their worth, this partnership will give Trigger the ability to continue creating immersive XR experiences to add to the Alliance’s 5G and XR content ecosystem.
Choi Yoon-ho, LGU+ 5G Service Business Head, said:
“In order for XR content to become popular, we need high-quality killer content that can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages, such as blockbuster movies”
With such a strong alliance of many telecom industry leaders, the XR ecosystem they hope to create will build alongside the predicted XR market growth of 62.67 percent. The outreach and connections that the Alliance has shared between them will no doubt make the group figureheads as mobile XR inevitably grows.
