This Monday, mixed reality (MR) collaboration platform Spatial opened online bidding for “The Meeting Room” (TMR), an immersive environment available as a non-refundable token (NFT) on SuperRare Lab’s online auction platform.
Spatial has started the online auction at a reserve price of 25 Ether – a popular cryptocurrency. Once a buyer matches the reserve, other potential buyers will have 24 hours to raise the bid.
Spatial built the TMR virtual environment solely for use on its platform with Cyril Lancelin and Benny Or, a pair of 3D digital artists with years of digital design experience, leading its design.
Krista Kim, Creator of Mars House, a groundbreaking digital home asset sold as a NFT, said that the TMR space represented “a harbinger of the future of immersive Metaverse art spaces that are ready-made and interoperable.”
The New York-based firm is promoting TMR as a piece “art and architecture” in Spatial’s Metaverse, meaning the buyer can invite others to enjoy the space as a shared immersive experience.
In recent news, Croatian extended reality (XR) developers Delta Reality initiated the online auction of the ‘Museum of Digital Life (MoDaL),’ an immersive environment, as an NFT with an initial price of 8.88 ETH.
Spatial for Remote Collaboration
Founded in 2016, Spatial is a MR collaboration solution for individual or enterprise use. The New York-based firm is ever-growing and has secured five funding rounds, with the latest round in January last year round gaining roughly $14 million USD in investments.
Spatial incorporates AI to create a realistic and immersive environment, including an uncanny avatar system that uses an AI framework to turn 2D facial photos into 3D renderings, allowing individuals to attach to their personal avatar to enable immersive peer-to-peer dialogue.
Additionally, the intuitive software is cross-platform compatible, meaning enterprise teams have the power to collaborate in a Spatial environment, no matter the hardware.
Also, employees can enter an MR meeting space by using devices such as a PC web-browser, VR headset, smartphone, or via augmented reality (AR) smart glasses.
Users can also access Spatial via online VR storefronts such as the Meta Quest and SteamVR. Conversely, users without access to a XR hardware can access the platform via the official web client.
