Extended reality (XR) firm Prox & Reverie has opened its mixed reality (MR) studio and services for clients searching for immersive technology solutions, Prolific North reported on Thursday.

The Doncaster, Yorkshire-based firm’s XR studio titled ‘The Forge’ is equipped with several tools for immersive content and uses technologies and solutions from top virtual reality (VR) brands such as Oculus, Faceware, Xsens, and Varjo Technologies.

The Forge also comes with a 2,000 square foot stage, where users can build immersive worlds for virtual content, use motion capturing (mocap) technologies for filming performances, and create MR experiences, among others.

Prox & Reverie also allow content creators to use Unity and Unreal Engine real-time 3D (RT3D) engines to build mocap avatars and visual metaverses.

The new studio will allow the XR firm to collaborate with partner studios, content creators, and brands for designing immersive television shows, events, films, and other content.

Martin Taylor, Co-Founder and Director, said as quoted by Prolific North,

“We are more than just a virtual production studio – our emphasis in The Forge’s convergence volume, is to empower content makers to explore and test their XR content ideas quickly and then push the boundaries of what’s possible because The Forge exists as a new kind of production canvas”

Alistair Maclean-Clark, Co-Founder and Chief Executive, added his firm had been “launched to level up the immersive aspects of [MR] by tapping into the full potential of XR technology.”

The news comes just days after Snap Inc, one of the world’s leading AR firms, announced it had built its Arcadia studio to facilitate AR advertisements for global brands and expand use cases of the technology.

Arcadia will offer clients project-based work and AR strategy insights for workshops, and has already listed Verizon, the World Wrestling Federation, Shake Shack, and P&G Beauty as clients.
