This month, Optelos, a US visual data management and AI analytics service provider, debuted turnkey drone inspection solutions that supply frontline workers with extended reality (XR)-powered immersive data. The service is currently available to companies that sign up for the firm’s drone solution.

The Austin-based firm presented its turnkey inspection service via FAA part 107-certified drone pilots who carry out ariel inspections to supply firms with crucial industry 4.0 data. Also, Optelos provides applicants access to its Asset Advisor platform that assists with data management tasks.

Asset Advisor is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that uses visualisation, digital twins, and integrated AI systems to make operational insights so that field service teams can improve workplace efficiency and collaboration.

Optelos also supplies applicants with a free introductory ‘Needs Assessment’, which considers the criteria of each proposed project and accounts for elements such as budgetary and time constraints.

The Texan firm chooses the necessary hardware and software to best suit each applicant, including drone components, sensors, cameras, flight schedules, and data collection methods.

Furthermore, Optelos supplied drones containing crucial XR technologies like LiDAR scanners and 360-degree surface capture software to create RT3D data and digital twins.

Ed Sztuka, the CRO at Optelos, added,

“We work closely with enterprises across many asset-intensive industries, including power utility, oil and gas, wireless carriers and process manufacturers. From that experience, we’ve developed specific processes and data collection methodologies that produce optimal results for each asset class across all kinds of challenging environments. We are able to deliver our cost-effective, end-to-end drone inspection service”

UAS for Utilities and Energy Expo

Optelos plans to make further announcements at this year’s Unmanned and Autonomous Systems for Utilities & Energy Conference (UAS for Utilities and Energy Expo), which is set to take place from June 8-9 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The UAS for Utilities and Energy Expo hosts an exhibition space and speaking event, where Optelos will cover technology topics such as digital inspection methods, pilot training, data security, new UAS solutions, LiDAR sensors, and AI integration as part of the event.

The news comes after numerous global firms explored XR-ready drones as a frontline solution. In March, Sony teamed up with Skyfish to improve photogrammetry and digital twin expectations by deploying drone devices integrated with the former’s powerful Alpha cameras.

Additionally, RUAS and partners Heliguys used XR drones to create a digital twin of the famed Angel of North statue in Gateshead this March as part of an ongoing national survey to digitally preserve UK historic landmarks.
