The Microsoft HoloLens stands out as one of the most appealing and popular tools for mixed and augmented reality experiences in the current landscape. Promising to change the way that people work and interact, the HoloLens is more than just another headset; it’s a solution that appeals to people from all backgrounds, by giving them access to information in new formats.

The initial HoloLens headset caught the eye of many business leaders but struggled to transform the landscape due to issues with perspectives and a limited field of view. The most recent version of the HoloLens, however, allowed Microsoft to fix these issues, and deliver a range of capabilities that customers could only imagine before, including enhanced eye tracking.

As Microsoft Director Greg Sullivan demonstrated in the latest Microsoft HoloLens 2 demonstration, the updated HoloLens is capable of tracking eye movement like never before. This ensures that people can interact with content in a new and improved way.

Updating the Eye Tracking Experience

Eye-tracking functionality in mixed reality tools is key to making the experience more immersive for everyone involved. Through mixed reality, companies like Microsoft can place translucent pieces of information and content into your existing field of view, giving you more tools to work with. However, without effective eye tracking, the experience can be disorienting and complicated.

Reliable eye-tracking functionality ensures that your headset can understand which tools you’re looking at, and what you’re trying to do with them in any scenario. This makes it easier to interact with the content in your enhanced environment.

The eyetracking functionality comes as part of a host of new features introduced to make the HoloLens 2 more impressive for business users. This fully self-contained computer and controller connects to Wi-Fi seamlessly, and can log you into your Microsoft account with just your eyes, thanks to Microsoft Windows Hello. The eye tracking functionality allows users to touch and move objects and holograms just as they would interact with things in real life.

An Updated MR Experience

The Microsoft HoloLens 2 promises more immersion to fans of the existing Microsoft experience. You can see more holograms at once through the updated field of view, and industry leading resolution offers a better level of clarity for the content that you see.

Eye tracking functionality within the HoloLens 2 also means that you can enjoy a better overall perspective when you’re dealing with mixed reality content in the real world. You can take full advantage of the space around you and avoid issues that might otherwise make it harder to work on projects with virtual team members and unlock new levels of creativity.

The enhanced eye tracking of the HoloLens 2 will work alongside the newly ergonomic Microsoft experience, which includes it’s own dial-in fit system for comfortable extended use. The HoloLens 2 builds on Microsoft’s mission to deliver industry-leading solutions in Mixed Reality for a growing enterprise and business landscape.
