This Wednesday, leading digital twin solutions provider Matterport announced Genesis, a generative AI-powered tool for enhancing project efficiency and profitability.

The new tool will allow users to customize an interior digital twin via text-based inputs. The Genesis AI system will then place items like furniture and lighting within a digital twin.

According to Matterport, its AI integration will be able to assist with the decision-making process for property management teams developing their portfolios.

The firm leverages its Cortex AI and Property Intelligence services to provide the Genesis solution while also leveraging Matterport’s pre-existing digital twin content library of “30 billion square feet of digitized physical space.” So that teams in residential or commercial sectors can evaluate and customize a wide range of digital building types.

Moreover, property management teams will be able to leverage the service for procedures such as design meetings, operational layouts, and utilization requirement consultations.

RJ Pittman, the Chairman and CEO of Matterport, added:

Matterport has been at the forefront of the digital transformation of the built world for more than a decade, fueled by our early advances in artificial intelligence. Genesis is the continuation of that strategy to help Matterport and its partners create transformational digital experiences for properties and improve operations in buildings worldwide.

Matterport plans to deploy early releases of the Genesis service across its platform before the end of 2023.

According to Pittman, Genesis will significantly simplify operations for clients in” property marketing, space planning, construction, property management and maintenance” while also providing new opportunities for “all of our customers, old and new.”

Pittman also added:

Matterport is highly focused on delivering advanced AI capabilities across the digital twin platform to unlock new capabilities and upend how we manage property and space in the built world.

By allowing users to populate a digital twin with additional objects quickly, Matterport will be able to provide a cost-effective way of optimizing interior design operations.

Matterport says the service will help homeowners, designers, and property managers reimagine space with automated staging stools.

Moreover, Genesis will provide other enterprise end-users with a solution with a variety of use cases such as design, construction, AEC, maintenance & repair, security, and environmental considerations.

More on Matterport

Matterport has a history of supporting the acceleration of digital twin and interior digitization to enterprise, commercial, and consumer end-users.

The firm works with end-users such as SEACOMP and Retail VR to enhance CX expectations via retail and manufacturing partnerships.

Moreover, the firm worked with leading XR firm Meta across the past few years to improve environmental recognition for the firm’s passthrough features.

This week’s announcement is not the first time Matterport experimented with AI. In 2022, Matterport started working  with Meta to “help change the way we work and live.” Matterport provides data from its content library to assist its users daily in collaboration with Meta’s AI team.

At the time, Dhruv Batra, a Research Scientist at Facebook [Meta] AI, said that using Matterport’s data will help Meta immersive hardware recognize objects and follow instructions with incredible speed and accuracy in the near future.

Batra noted, now imagine a world in which an AR assistant can tell you, ‘Hey, you forgot you keys on the coffee table’.
