Today, hot on the heels of Meta Connect 2024, Logitech debuted the general availability of its MX Ink product, an MR stylus accessory the firm explicitly made for the Meta Quest headset portfolio.

Namely, the MX Ink product works with the recently introduced Meta Quest 3S, which Meta is shipping on October 15th. Allowing users to annotate and interact with a 3D space.

The MX Ink product works with Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3S and is available in three different models: MX Ink ($129.99), MX Ink + MX Inkwell Combo ($169.99), and MX Mat ($49.99).

Vadim Kogan, Head of AR/VR at Logitech, said:

With the launch of MX Ink, we unlock a new wave of creativity and expression and continue to expand our MX ecosystem for advanced creators, following our announcement of the MX Creative Console. This tool offers a whole new way to integrate into MR experiences, bridging the gap between traditional tools and the immersive digital world.

The stylus allows users to navigate and annotate in MR environments, ready-for-use cases like virtual desktops. With the device, a Meta Quest user can interact with digital assets like papers, desks, and whiteboards. Logitech highlights how professionals in sectors such as medicine, architecture, and education can leverage compatible applications on launch.

More on Meta Quest 3S

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and Founder of Meta, recently announced the Quest 3S after months of rumours, an MR device similar to the Quest 3 but cheaper.

Today, Meta announced that pre-orders for the Quest 3S will begin at $299.99 for the 128GB model and $399.99 for the 256GB model. The Quest 3S is designed to support workplace productivity applications, such as a virtual desktop.

The Quest 3S will include features like a high-quality 4K display, a Fresnel lens system, and a full-color passthrough. The headset will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR Gen 2 chipset, 8GB of RAM, hard-tracking, and Touch Plus controllers.

In addition to the Quest 3S, Meta has introduced the Meta for Developers marketing hub and updated developer centres for its XR portfolio. Meta is expanding its XR developer support in anticipation of Connect’s significant announcements. According to an official statement, Meta aims to create “a vast ecosystem of tools and tailored solutions.”

The developer centres will specifically assist XR developers in creating content for the Quest portfolio. Meta has updated the Horizon operating system to adopt a more open content creation and distribution approach. Furthermore, the new developer centres will help developers utilize Meta’s social media portfolio and AI/LLM solutions.
