This Thursday, JB Capital announced that it is providing significant investment to Positron Voyager, a virtual reality (VR) hardware vendor for cinematic experiences.
The awarded capital enables Positron Voyager to expand its immersive product globally. Jeffrey Travis, CEO and Founder of Positron Voyager, said, adding,
“Through their [JB Capital’s] support and guidance, we will have the opportunity to expand our goal to bring the magic of immersive storytelling to audiences using cutting-edge technology, resulting in a one-of-a-kind cinema viewing and VR experience”
Back in the (Full-Motion) Seat
The Los Angeles-based firm is developing immersive hardware to enhance the cinematic experience, following the COVID-19 pandemic, which badly affected the entertainment industry.
Since the global lockdown in early 2020, movie distribution groups have changed their approach to delivering cinematic content. For example, many film distribution labels pulled releases from cinemas until audiences were guaranteed to return or companies circulated films on streaming platforms first.
Despite this, many cinema chains have pushed to return audiences to seats following governmental bodies reducing lockdown restrictions.
Positron Voyager is assisting cinema groups in attracting new and old customers. The immersive technology firm is creating Voyager VR full-motion chairs that simulate a cinematic experience using various extended reality (XR) features and functions.
It has also designed the Voyager VR product as the world’s first full-motion chair for immersive cinematic experiences, which includes key XR components such as haptics, a VR headset, 360-degree motion, and scent dispensers.
Additionally, Positron Voyager has stated it will move towards producing internal VR content and turnkey immersive content packages for third-party clients.
JB Capital Founder Jeremy Hill commented on the worldwide potential of the Voyager® VR chairs, saying,
“The team at Positron is at the heart of creating remarkable experiences for consumers across the globe”
The news comes after Positron Voyager partnered with the Cannes XR Film Festival in May to provide its immersive cinematic solution to this year’s esteemed lineup of award-winning movies.
