Last Thursday, immersive healthcare training solutions provider GigXR updated its HoloSecnarios platform to include new training models to deepen learning curves.
The move brings Basic Life Support (BLS) training to the HoloSecnarios platform – a TIME-awarded immersive learning suite.
Project partners Morlen Health, a Northwest Permanente, P.C. subsidiary, assisted in integrating the new learning module into the HoloSecnarios platform.
Micah Thorp, MD, D.O., President of Morlen Health and Vice President of Business Strategy for Northwest Permanente, said that the GigXR partnership allows their medical group to deliver immersive training solutions on a global scale while championing accessibility for instructors and learners.

What is HoloScenarios: Basic Life Support?
The HoloScenarios: Basic Life Support training module uses mixed reality (MR) technology to deliver immersive learning environments for healthcare trainees to gain critical skills for essential life support.

GigXR’s latest module teaches students how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) on a patient under critical conditions.
HoloScenarios: Basic Life Support uses MR passthrough to place an interactive visualization of a patient experiencing cardiac arrest and accompanying AED equipment to perform CPR procedures.
The new module also contains two core training scenarios. The individual features allow healthcare educators to distribute immersive Basic Life Support with varying difficulties, learning requirements, and environments.
Additionally, Ramos stated that the HoloScenarios: Basic Life Support module enables his institution to teach the “full range of needed hard and soft skills.”
GigXR’s service also allows healthcare trainees to hone their skills in a safe and repeatable scenario. Moreover, GigXR’s immersive platform will enable trainees to collaborate and participate in group learning over shared MR holograms.
According to the firm, the GigXR learning platform is suitable for teaching individuals at various levels, including first responders, healthcare providers, medical and nursing students, public safety professionals, and community members.
Moreover, GigXR promotes using its other HoloScenarios learning applications alongside the Basic Life Support training module, such as HoloHuman and Insight Heart by ANIMA RES.
GigXR: Democratizing MR Healthcare Training and Preparing for MR in 2023
Jared Mermey, the CEO of GigXR, says that partnering with Morlen Health assists in expanding HoloScenarios offerings.
Moreover, the partnership allows GigXR to democratize the distribution of its realistic MR training techniques in an attempt to match traditional methods.

GigXR is working hard to expand and scale its learning platform.
Over the past year, the firm partnered with international healthcare institutions such as Cambridge Healthcare Partners and Michigan University to maintain the availability of immersive learning platforms in the classroom.
