Brunner Elektronik, a Swiss provider of enterprise-grade mixed reality (MR) training solutions, will debut its NovaSim MR DA42 full-motion simulator at a major expo, a LinkedIn post revealed on Wednesday.

The Hittnau-based firm will debut the training solution at the European Airline Training Symposium (EATS) 2021 set to take place November 2-3 in Berlin.

At the event, attendees can try out the groundbreaking hardware, which will prioritise aviation training and later focus on other vehicle types.

Currently, the simulator can support helicopters or fixed-wing cockpits with customisable flight controls and a suspended 6 degree of freedom (DoF) motion platform that reacts to user input.

The platform also uses Varjo’s XR2 headset for optimal visual fidelity and navigation, but is also compatible with Valve Index, HTC Vive, and 8K Xtal flight training headsets, giving Swiss aviation training institutions the tools needed to train with a range of vehicles such as the Airbus EC145.

The news comes after Brunner won a contract with Zürich-based Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) to deploy NovaSim MR devices to aviation students across the region, and signed an additional deal with AEROTER for training VRT500 helicopter pilots.

Car Simulation, Full-Body Haptics and More by Brunner

The developments come as the Swiss firm unveiled its NovaSim|Drive software at the Berlin symposium attended by firms developing products in military, manufacturing, and research.

The new solution uses NovaSim MR DA42 hardware with high-quality immersive visuals that incorporate Varjo XR2 headsets to simulate military ground vehicles, racing cars, and boats.

At the symposium, Brunner also revealed its NovaSim hardware works seamlessly with British full-body haptics system ‘TeslaSuit’ to increase immersion and simulate touch, weather, and vehicle movement.

Brunner proudly boost a large portfolio of products ranging from motion platforms, Varjo headsets, and various custom controller options for use in its advanced simulation solutions.
