‘No Time to Die’ Debuts On Facebook, Oculus VR

James Bond, one of Britian’s greatest cinematic characters, debuted his latest instalment ‘No Time to Die’ on Facebook and Oculus, signalling a major push for immersive film amid COVID-19.

The film premiered at London’s Royal Albert Hall and across Oculus Venues, and Royal Family members such as Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker-Bowles attended the event.

‘No Time to Die’ is Daniel Craig’s last film as the iconic figure and also features Hollywood superstars Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, and Lea Seydoux, and others.

Build Metaverse Under ‘Open’ Framework, Execs Say

A panel of experts speaking at the VRARA Global Summit Europe on the rising Metaverse offered a consensus designers should build the potential successor to the Internet under an open framework.

Three decades of discussion on the Metaverse has raised many questions on how best to develop the platform, namely as major firms such as Facebook, Nextech AR, HTC VIVE and others recently shifted focus to building infrastructure as official ‘Metaverse companies’.

But many in the panel stated the Metaverse had not been realised, despite the rise of such Metaverse firms, and urged for a clear, open framework for developing it similarly to the rise of the Internet.

TRIPP’s Mani Srinivasan Discusses 5G Debut on Nreal

XR Today recently interviewed Mani Srinivasan, Chief Business Officer for TRIPP, to discuss updates taking place in the firm such as 5G, edge computing, and mixed reality (MR) support.

According to the exec, TRIPP had teamed up with T-Mobile on edge computing solutions to boost 5G performance for devices and expand to additional platforms such as Nreal’s AR glasses.

Mr Srinivasan also shared updates on the TRIPP platform as users began seeking health and wellness solutions amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In Focus: CREAL Offers Novel XR Light Field Solution

Dr Tomas Sluka, Chief Executive and Founder of CREAL, shared with XR Today his insights on new light field solutions his startup had been developing for the XR market.

According to the Swiss-based starup, light field solutions needed to tackle concerns with focusing on objects and creating more authentic representations of light interacting with a user’s field of vision.

Such solutions were vital to reducing eye fatigue and nausea, among other symptoms, as future VR, MR, and AR solutions reached the consumer and enterprise markets.

Styly Sessions Offers Shared Immersive Experiences

Psychic VR Labs debuted its STYLY Sessions platform, which allowed multiple users to share immersive spaces for events and other immersive experiences. Attendees could use the new platform across, webXR brosers, smartphones, as well as VR headsets such as the Oculus Quest 2 and AR smart glasses.

XR Today attended the platform’s ‘Dig into NEWVIEW 2021’ tour, which showcased multiple interests such as fashion, interactive gaming, and tourism, among others.
