The extended reality (XR) industry has received multiple upgrades for solutions in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (AV/VR/MR) from major firms such as HTC, RealWear, Meta, Lenovo, and Taqtile.

Ongoing development in infrastructure and solutions to realise the full capabilities of the future Metaverse have become a key focus of both multinational firms and startups with innovative products.

HTC Improves VIVE Flow User Experience

Taiwanese tech giant HTC revealed key updates to its HTC VIVE Flow VR headset aimed at improving interoperability with other platforms, media playback and streaming, and hardware performance.

Further updates include increased compatibility with Samsung Exynos chipsets, greater phone streaming capabilities for movie theatre-quality videos and customisable screen options, as well as a Passenger Mode feature for enhanced visual stability while in dark environments, among others.

ThinkReality A3 To Boost XR ‘At Scale’, Lenovo Says

XR Today recently spoke with Nathan Pettyjohn, AR/VR Lead at Lenovo and President of the Virtual and Augmented Reality Association (VRARA), to discuss the firm’s flagship ThinkReality A3 device.

The massive tech company, which is the world’s largest computer firm by unit sales, explained how numerous advancements with its XR capabilities have allowed the development of an impressive AR solution capabile of at-scale deployments across global partner countries.

He also shared crucial data on the benefits of using XR technologies in enterprise workflows, which have led to 75 percent retention rates compared to traditional training, as well as evidence nearly 50 percent of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) stated VR/AR technologies provided more efficacy for data processing and collaboration.

Meta Horizon Worlds Launches in US, Canada

Further news on Meta was revealed last week after it launched Horizon Worlds for US and Canadian audiences, which provides users with an immersive sandboxed and bespoke VR multiplayer world.

After months of beta testing, users aged 18 and older can now enrol in the new Metaverse world to play games and create immersive experiences. No global rollout has been confirmed to date.

Taqtile Adds AR Manifest Support for Apple iPads

The US firm has received support to use its MR platform Manifest on the Apple iPad, allowing global workforces access to an AR solution to streamline workflows and boost collaboration.

Upgrades have added numerous spatial computing tools, greater content access, heightened security, and workflow boosts to facilitate onboarding, maintentance, and training for frontline workers.

RealWear Debuts Navigator 500 Assisted Reality Tool

US firm RealWear has unveiled its RealWear Navigator 500 headset, which increases comfort, safety, and workflow productivity for workforces.

Following the RealWear HMT-1 headset’s success and partnership with Lenovo, the firm has expanded the device’s capabilities to incorporate assisted reality tools for enhanced support.
