This week, Arvizio, known for developing enterprise-grade augmented and mixed reality (AR/MR) solutions for onsite construction and industrial workflows, announced new features for its AR Instructor tool for equipment training, operation, and maintenance workflows specifically for medical institutions.

The latest updates to AR Instructor include digital AR/MR overlays for associated 3D objects, images, documentation, and annotations to guide healthcare frontline employees through complex task-oriented workflows.

AR Instructor also uses onboard, outward-facing cameras on compatible headsets, such as the Microsoft HoloLens 2, to allow remote medical experts to observe video feeds of a frontline worker’s point of view.

The video feed allows the remote expert to provide real-time guidance and create AR instructional pop-ups to assist with training and maintenance procedures.

Jonathan Reeves, CEO of Arvizio, added:

“With AR Instructor we provide a seamless digital workflow to rapidly upskill current and prospective medical professionals. The ability to combine 3D models, interactive annotations with on-demand remote expert collaboration provides a state-of-the-art solution for medical technology training and maintenance”

Also, the powerful platform enables hospital workers to create high-quality digital twins of equipment, like ventilators, that enhances the efficacy of complex equipment training.

To support the distribution of big data items such as digital twins and 3D assets, Arvizio incorporates powerful 5G technology to improve latency and file sharing.

Arvizio Powering Frontline Workers

Currently, the firm offers its ‘Immerse 3D’ and ‘AR Instructor’ solutions to optimise and share complex enterprise-grade 3D models for compatible immersive devices such as the HoloLens 2 and Magic Leap.

The Instructor platform integrates powerful 3D visualizations to give onsite workers the tools to improve their workplace performance via immersive training or remote guidance.

Additionally, Arvizio is offering Immerse 3D, a powerful enterprise-grade remote guidance tool that enables cross-platform collaboration for developers and designers.

The Ontario-based firm offers solutions to power Industry 4.0 and is building the foundation for a safe and reliable immersive economy.

In a recent interview with XR Today, Reeves said,

“It’s obvious that AR is one of the next great things to break through and begin to revolutionise Industry 4.0 over to the ‘next stage.’ As part of this, there’s a significant digital transformation taking place across industries and sectors, and I think it’s fair to say that, while AR has been a good topic for a lot of hype and discussion in the market, it’s only now beginning to break through”

The Verizon-hosted Lake Nona Innovation Hub recently featured Arvizio’s AR instructor to showcase how the platform successfully utilizes 5G technology.

Verizon has deployed 5G-enabled immersive experiences for broadcasting and sporting events. The firm uses 5G technology in over 60 sporting and entertainment venues across the United States.

Verizon also invested $80 million to introduce its 5G Ultra-Wideband technology to the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, allowing in-person and at-home attendees to enjoy instant mobile webAR experiences with reduced latency.

In other news, Verizon, Motorola, and Lenovo partnered to deliver a 5G necklace, which permits users to enjoy XR experiences with ultra-low latency connectivity.
