ArborXR, a mobile device management company, announced on Wednesday it had struck a partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to assist tech firms in deploying virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) headsets at scale.
ArborXR will provide its device management software to Qualcomm XR customers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for “large-scale deployments”, the firm said, adding OEMs could install its software early in the development cycle of novel XR reference designs.

The two enterprises have worked with OEM companies and enterprise customers to locate issues affecting firms scaling up their fleet of XR devices and headsets, namely in provisioning, enrolling, remote management, installations, and updates, among others.
ArborXR’s platform will also use a kiosk mode and bespoke launcher, allowing Fortune 500 firms, independent software vendors, and institutions to manage their devices.
ArborXR Chief Executive Brad Scoggin said in a statement,
“With large scale deployments, we’ve increasingly seen a need for this kind of deeper integration. By working with Qualcomm Technologies at the Snapdragon® platform level and directly with OEMs, we will be able to provide companies a powerful and seamless platform for managing their fleets”
Said Bakadir, Senior Director for XR Product Management for Qualcomm, added his company recognised the “friction” that still existed in “deploying large numbers of VR & AR devices.”
Working with his firm could help “solve this problem,” he said, adding,
“We are confident this collaboration with ArborXR will result in tremendous benefits for our customers and partners as we support their efforts to manage large-scale deployments”
The news comes after Hewlett-Packard (HP) teamed up with ArborXR to demo its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) ExtendXR solution, designed jointly with ArborXR, to manage XR headsets.
At the Immerse Global Summit’s Metaverse 2.0 event in March, the two companies introduced the new software platform, which allows senior executives to track performance metrics and other features.
The solution also debuted at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 in Barcelona in January and taps HP’s Horizon cloud technologies for enhanced security and access across devices.
