This month, Apple announced the official date for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which has historically showcased the firm’s breakout XR announcements, including the Vision Pro MR headset.

The event, which will take place at Apple Park from June 9 to 13, 2025, will provide insight into Apple innovations across its portfolio, including the Vision Pro.

Early in the year, at CES, NVIDIA showcased the Vision Pro as part of its technology stack behind the firm’s physical AI developments, meaning that further enterprise-leaning could come via WWDC 2025.

Susan Prescott, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations, added:

We’re excited to mark another incredible year of WWDC with our global developer community. We can’t wait to share the latest tools and technologies that will empower developers and help them continue to innovate.

The event is free to view online on the Apple Developer app, Apple Developer website, and Apple Developer YouTube channel. The stream will showcase the opening June 9 keynote, the Keynote and Platforms State of the Union, live from Apple Park.

Moreover, on June 9th, in-person opportunities to consult Apple experts one-on-one or in a group lab.

Will Vision Pro Steal the WWDC Show?

The news of WWDC’s official date comes as Vision Pro completes its first year on the market, and competitors such as Samsung and Vivo are looking to pick up the mainstream interest in AR/MR devices.

Apple has not confirmed the presence of Vision Pro at WWDC; however, based on last year’s announcements and the incremental updates to visionOS since late 2024, an announcement may occur at the event.

Moreover, Vision Pro devices have provided significant benefits to immersive streaming, collaboration, AI, and robotics, with the upcoming Apple visionOS 2.4 expected in April, bringing AI capabilities to the $3,499 device with the integration of AI features, perhaps boosting the Vision Pro’s appeal in professional settings.

Additionally, at CES 2025, NVIDIA focused extensively on its robotics and artificial intelligence investments. The company prominently featured Apple’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset in various promotional images, highlighting its essential role in these initiatives. During last year’s NVIDIA GTC, the company emphasized the growing importance of Vision Pro in its research on emerging workplace tools, further solidifying the connection between the device and the Omniverse platform.

At the same time, at CES, Innoactive announced a new product partnership with Apple and NVIDIA to introduce a streaming service connecting Omniverse with the Apple Vision Pro. This collaboration allows NVIDIA Omniverse developers to stream their Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) workflows directly to an Apple Vision Pro headset.

Dr Axel Heinrich, Head of Innovation and Systems Architecture at Volkswagen AG, noted that the company uses Innoactive’s XR Streaming platform to power its Digital Reality Hub tool.

Speaking at the time of the CES news, Heinrich added:

Now with their support of NVIDIA Omniverse, OpenUSD and Apple Vision Pro, we can do exact surface validation as well as early product decisions in ergonomics and user interaction – without needing any physical prototype, at lightning speed. This includes high precision and realistic visualization of the surface, incorporating real-time lighting and shadowing. Additionally, it enhances the user car experience and provides insights into the experience of valency.

The event is coming soon, and between AI and XR, Apple seems to be joining in on the emerging technology market and its fresh directions; with a history of success, time will tell where Apple ends up in a busy marketplace.
