At the Adobe Summit 2022 this week, which is currently running until March 17, the software firm announced a set of new Metaverse creation tools for its Creative Cloud and Experience Cloud production suites.

The San Jose, California-based company is enhancing its Substance 3D and Aero toolsets for virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) production to support Metaverse content creation for digital assets such as art, clothing, and accessories.

In the paper, Adobe outlines the crucial elements to successful a Metaverse platform. These include experiences, devices, commerce, engines, delivery, and creative ecosystems.

In a recent interview, Stefano Corazza, Vice President and Fellow for Adobe, said,

“This is something we’ve been planning for a very long time. And so, when people talk about the Metaverse, the first thing people ask is… Where’s the content coming from?”

Shantanu Narayen, Adobe’s Chief Executive, added,

“Increasingly we’re using the digital world to do things that we once only did in the physical world. The ongoing conversation on the Metaverse reflects the fact that the distinction between what people do in the physical and virtual world is blurring”

New Tools, More Power

Adobe is introducing Modeler, a tool for Substance 3D that enhances the ability to create and share VR 3D assets for Metaverse content creation. Currently, the feature is available as a Beta.

At the event, Adobe demoed the new tool to reveal how users could sculpt a 3D object in an editing suite that combines VR-style handstrokes with precise mouse movements. On the AR side, Adobe is also introducing new tools to create AR shopping experiences on the Adobe Aero platform.

Corazza added,

“We are expanding more and more into the areas that are crucial for the Metaverse.”

Adobe is also enhancing Behavior Builder, an artificial intelligence (AI) feature for Adobe Aero that assists creatives with no-coding skills to build interactive AR experiences, allowing creatives with lesser technical knowledge to dip their feet into Metaverse content creation.

Currently, Adobe is seeing success with its popular AI application, Sensai, with 80 percent of Adobe Cloud users employing the software to enhance their digital creations.
