Indian tech firm HCLTech has showcased its portable 5G solution at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona, it announced this week.

The novel solution aims to expand enterprise 5G adoption with hyperfast, ultra-low latency internet connectivity for demoing extended reality (XR) solutions.

Both HCLTech and HCLSoftware, the company’s software solution wing, service 222,000 clients across 60 nations.

The Noida, India-based enterprise aims to show how such technologies can boost specialised knowledge of digital, cloud computing, software, and engineering.

It also follows a 3M approach, or migrate-modernise-monetise 5G digital transformation approach, also aims to accelerate the technology.

Its private 5G network in a box offers managed services for building use cases, including designing, developing, and deploying such scenarios.

Furthermore, it provides 5G system integration frameworks for network function onboarding, testing and validation, and network slicing, abstraction, and analysis.

TURBO-5G also provides an intelligent master orchestrator. This tests and validates internet of things (IoT) devices and network operations across open radio access network (O-RAN), Core, and Transport domains.

These cover 5G standalone and non-standalone (SA/NSA) networks and private 5G connections.

Vijay Guntur, President and Head of Engineering and Research and Development (R&D) Services, HCLTech said,

“Communication service providers and enterprises need a system integration partner that can scale in diverse technology domains to integrate, deploy and operate 5G networks. With our 5G system integration framework, we have created a differentiated set of services to address the unique system integration requirements for disaggregated and distributed network domains that include RAN, transport and core.”

Jagdeshwar Gattu, President of Digital Foundation Services, HCLTech, added,

“HCLTech’s heritage in architecture and design, system integration and management of complex networks across different technologies makes us a perfect partner for CSPs and enterprises aiming to achieving business outcomes by deploying industry-specific 5G use cases.”

Network Modernisation Efforts

The news comes as HCLTech aims to transition communications service providers (CSPs) from proprietary to Cloud Native platform. This will boost interoperability in services for clients and scale infrastructure.

The firm’s CloudSMART Modernisation Experience also facilitates open-source, off-the-shelf IT solutions for vendors. Its Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) also empowers telecoms with scaled solutions and optimised reliability with advanced practices across operations.

Kaylan Kumar, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems, HCLTech, said that the company was “thrilled” to launch the two services to “transform the ways in which enterprises across industries view their strategies for business growth and development.”

Kumar added: “Our enablement of Cloud Native telecommunications platforms will provide a much-needed solution for businesses looking to take advantage of the latest advancements in the telecommunications industry.”

The tech firm also collaborated with Dell Technologies to provide network modernisation solutions for CSPs and businesses. It will provide “end-to-end system integration services” for virtualised radio access networks (vRAN), ORAN, private 5G networks, and edge computing solutions.

HTC VIVE Debuts Reign Core Portable 5G

The news comes after HTC VIVE and Supermicro trialled the former’s Reign Core 5G solution for a VR demo at last year’s MWC.

The portable network solution allowed HTC VIVE to operate remote-controlled cars on its G-Reign network.

HTC VIVE debuted a new use case for its 5G-backed virtual reality (VR) technologies at the Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona, Spain. The HTC VIVE booth demoed the use case with its VIVE Flow headsets to stream views of the vehicles from multiple camera angles.

Portable 5G networks offer users reliable, high-speed 5G connections for events and exhibitions, building use cases, training and educating employees, and others. These tools provide compatibility with 3GPP and O-RAN specifications, ensuring that connecting devices can join networks with minimal concerns.
